We were randomly looking for a birthday present for my boyfriend's Dad. I lived near to Retro but had never really ventured in before.
Went in on a Saturday afternoon around 3 (it opens from 11am).
It's such a quaint wee place with a cat that snoozes in the sunshine outside.
Inside its a bit of a treasure trove for vintage fans, I saw lots of ladies clothing from the 50s through to 80s as well as lots of lovely handbags and accessories.
Back to the birthday present, having just returned from the Caribbean we thought we'd opt for a garish summer shirt and they didn't disappoint

Retro clothing shops have recently become very popular, at least in Glasgow. Situated between two other popular vintage clothing shops, Retro has its work cut out for it.
However, unlike the other vintage shops, the clothes in Retro, are actually vintage. Too many times a vintage shop will showcase clothes which are just 'hand me downs' or donations, but you can see on the label that they're from a popular high street shop.
Not so with Retro. All manner of vintage merchandise, including some very questionable dresses, which, though I wouldn't wear them now, I can see I

Retro, to give it its due, has withstood the test of time - and the recession - but being conveniently located on Otago St it's not placed in an area which is going to lack business.
Retro's window displays are always inspiring and hint to a bygone era (you can often hark at mother's saying to their daughters 'I had those boots in the '70s') but in my experience the best clothes have always been brought out of mothballs and hitched up on a mannequin simply to get people in the shop. Once inside its stock varies from really pretty to the absurd (but hey that's

Retro does exactly what it says on the tin. But does it do it better than any other vintage clothing store in Glasgow? Not really.
Retro is a pretty small shop, located on Otego Street, just round the corner from Kelvinbridge (& Kelvinbridge Subway station). It's a pretty small store. I like the shop itself, it's very - well - retro, with wooden floors and a good layout.
I'd call it more of a second hand shop rather than a vintage store for the most part. Which is cool if that's what you're looking for, but if you really want something from a certain era they don

The first time I went in to retro I thought it might have just been woman's clothing, the guys section wasn't so great but after further visits I quite like Retro. I agree with Lewis' comment about the variety of clothes they aren't all retro and it is probably just as much as a second hand shop as a vintage clothing shop. The last time I was in they had some good stuff, vintage cardigans and knits, old school tracksuit tops and lots of leather jackets. The pricing varied, I thought some things were surprisingly cheap whilst others vastly over-priced. Based on this account I

I am slightly confused by this shop. Yes, every item of clothing is retro (sometimes just old fashioned), however, compared to Watermelon round the corner, and the other few in the area, it's very very expensive. There's not a great amount of diversity amongst the clothes, however, if you don't know what you're looking for, you'll generally be able to find something here - it's a nice place to waste an hour or so, but I'd probably be saving my pennies for something a bit more 'cool' from elsewhere.
