We are experiencing very high demand for our fitting service and we are looking at early November for availability. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Please note, if you would like to make a double fitting appointment for you and your friend or partner, you will need to make two separate appointments.
Each year we attract thousands of customers from across the country, as far as the Highlands of Scotland to Cornwall. We are very proud to have welcomed people from 123 out of 124 postcode districts in the UK. But why do they travel to us, I hear you say? We can customise the fit of our walking boots and shoes to provide you with an unparalleled level of comfort. Just imagine how happy your feet will be in footwear personalised to fit, no more squashed toes or painful bunions! You don't even need to wait- the customisation process is completed in store and only takes approximately ten minutes.
Since then I have covered just over 100 miles on separate walks, albeit not very hilly in the Kent coastal area and the boots have been a delight. I was confident that this would be the case after the care and attention to detail that you undertook during the measuring, fitting and adjusting process.
From their clinics at Whalley Warm & Dry and in Gisburn, they can create hand-built Custom Made Insoles which are 100% tailored to your two individual feet, naturally supporting every contour of your foot, improving comfort, shock absorption, support, alignment and posture.
Their assessments, insoles and advice have successfully helped to reduce the symptoms of discomfort caused by a range of medical conditions, including Plantar Fasciitis, Mortons Neuroma, Achilles Tendonitis and Arthritis.

I didn't realise at the time of booking my boot fitting just how popular this place was but when my appointment finally came around I soon found out why. The fitting service was second to none and the staff… were so knowledgeable and polite throughout. I came away with the perfect pair of boots as well as the exact Montane clothing that I'd been looking for for a long time. Well worth the visit!

If you’re a keen, regular walker, Whalley Warm and Dry is literally the best place to go in the North West for professionally-fitted, walking boots (i.e. British made brand, Altberg). They don’t just offer a specialist footwear fitting and customisation service but they also stock a wide range of outdoor clothing (e.g. Paramo).

Having developed bunions, my feet have also become wider and longer with age, so finding comfy walking boots has become a problem. They always feel fine in the shop and around the house, but inevitably start rubbing after several walks, by which time it’s not possible to exchange them. The care and attention to detail with which my feet were measured and assessed at Whalley Warm & Dry was first rate and the bespoke stretching service to give a perfect fit to each boot is a huge bonus. I’m looking forward to wearing my new Meindl boots and walking miles with no pain. Well worth the journey and

I travelled from South West Wales to get my boots fitted. This was a he best thing I have done. I booked my appointment and came prepared. We were here for about 90 mins in total but service was outstanding. I have very narrow feet. All measurements taken and explanation given assessment of my foot placement. I have ended up with a perfect fitting boot that will see me right for many miles. My boots came as Extra Narrow. I finally feel secure in good quality footwear. Thank you so much. Make a day off it and travel here you won’t be disappointed. This shop understand walkers and have time for

Absolutely fantastic service! My mum had struggled to find comfy walking boots after having hers for 25years, but after measuring her feet Peter found some which fit perfectly. They even said that if she found they became uncomfortable at any point she could bring them back in and they'd give them a stretch.

Never have my feet had so much attention . Aggie took great care to ensure that the boots I bought were exactly what was required & there was no rush at any time during the process.
I am extremely grateful for her advice , in depth knowledge & suggestions & I would not hesitate to recommend her & the company to anyone who requires walking boots / shoes.
The boots are not the cheapest but they are just what was required & if your feet are happy then it is worth the trip 😀😀

Fantastic, I finally know why I have so many foot issues! Staff are so knowledgeable, and polite and pick out the most appropriate boot to fit your feet and will custom stretch them out where needed.
