Services
Our story starts on St David's Day in 2014 when we first got the keys to this historic building. After the arduous task of renovating the building which was 8 months of hard, dirty, exhausting work we opened our doors to our first customers. We knew the people of Port Talbot and Cwmavon would love it here just as much as we did as we had plans to bring to the area things that certainly weren't the norm.
Gallery- Please feel free to browse through our images to get a feel for what we are all about here at The Brit. The Brit staff picking up the award for Best Pub at the Swansea bay tourism awards along with highly commended award for best gastropub food! County winners of the National Pub and Bar Awards.
We have just had the fantastic news that we have been selected once again to go into the CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2017. It's hailed as a Beer drinker's bible letting it's readers know where all the best pubs in the UK reside and what they have to offer. After the success of last year's Charity ball in trying to raise money for Ellie Morgan we set our sights on trying to help another cause this year.
The accommodation here at The Brit is perfect for cyclists and walkers wishing to have convenient low cost place to stay in the Afan Valley. Our accommodation is available to book all year round depending on availability. And access to the rooms can be at any time of the day or night. We do ask that you respect fellow guests and keep noise to a minimum if coming in late or leaving early in the morning.
Come and visit our Gastro pub set in the beautiful surroundings of the Afan Valley. You will find a selection of good food that is all totally home made and cooked with the finest selection of delicious seasonal products and locally sourced ingredients. You can choose to eat in our elegant and eclectic vintage dining room, our rustic and cosy bar area, our quirky snug area and when the weather permits our beautiful riverside garden.

As there was only 2 of us, I thought we would go out for Sunday Lunch for a change and well, we certainly wasn't disappointed. The restaurant wasn't overly busy (which I prefer) and everything was perfectly cooked and served with a friendly smile. I don't usually eat a full Sunday roast dinner, but I couldn't resist! Cauliflower cheese is my new favourite accompaniment to my future Sunday lunches!

10/10 all round. The food was outstanding, delicious and fresh. The service was phenomenal.
We had a dog and only outside seating was available for us but that doesn’t bother us been outdoors people. They came out and gave us blankets and shut the gates so the dog could roam freely while we ate. Very attentive at all times. Highly recommend. 5****

We had the most wonderful baby shower at The Brit and I can’t recommend it highly enough. The high tea with its wonderful selection of home cooked cakes were absolutely divine. The staff couldn’t do enough to… help make it a success. They helped us decorate the room and, at the end, passed on the balloon arch to another celebration so it didn’t waste! Outstanding !

Very nice, cosy pub with friendly staff. The food was good and nice to see that a lot of the stuff is home made and that they have a great vegetarian/vegan menu. I would have given 4 stars if not for the drinks. When asked for our drink order we asked what soft drinks were available and we were told about a lemonade with orange juice drink, that we both opted to try. When looking at the bill we were charged £5.40 for each drink. We were billed for a j20 £4.40 and dash of lemonade at a further £1 each making each non alcoholic "lemonade and orange juice" £5.40 each!!!

Lovely food! Not cheap so please don’t go thinking it’s pub prices! Starter £7 main £23 dessert £7 sides £4 soft drink £2 (that’s fine). Lovely atmosphere, it’s a pub not a restaurant so if you want a quiet… meal it’s not for you. Our table for 3 was in the middle of locals having a pint, but we didn’t mind… there were some tables towards the back not sure if they would be quieter. 8oz sirloin with homemade chips a flat mushroom, 2 small vine tomatoes grilled was £23 (included a very small pot of peppercorn sauce

We were looking forward to visiting. We were disappointed to be told that children and dogs aren’t welcome anymore. Not the friendly, welcoming place we had read so much about for us, unfortunately. The reviews do look good.

Our first time visiting the Brit . A lovely cosy friendly place. We were shown to our table and given the menu's ,. We ordered our drinks . We both had the same starter which was delicious cauliflower fritters with a sweet chilli dip. Our mains didn't disappoint either. We opted for the stuffed peppers with rice , we also had side dishes of skin on fries, onion rings and garlic bread. We were asked if we wanted to look at the dessert menu . We waited quite a while but we never got it. So I went to the bar and they were helpful and took our order . When it arrived it didn't disappoint . The cheesecake

A very nice cosy pub with a warm welcome. We had a family get together for Sunday lunch and was very pleasant, however the roast potatoes were a little underdone and could have been a bit more veg, but all tasty. Can't wait to try an evening meal or afternoon tea. Car parking is on the street as car park used for outdoor seating, so tricky getting a space.

First time we I arrived here we couldn't get a table as they didn't offer food to which the manager explained and apologized for. Glad me and my friend came back the décor was modern but with the 1885 feel as well. We were sat down and choose our food. I ordered the monk fish first time to try it out and was not disappointed. It was absolutely delicious was not expecting it to be and the price was very reasonable. To some it up the food was great, staff were great, everything was great. I will definitely be back here again.
