Juliet's Garden Restaurant & Bar
The award winning Juliet's Garden has come a long way over the last 35 years. Starting as a small tea garden in an idyllic spot, Juliet's has grown and firmly established itself as a popular and highly attractive restaurant, still boasting breathtaking views across the harbour, and indeed, most of the other islands.

Situated just above Porthloo Beach, 15 minutes from Hugh Town, (just below St. Mary's Golf Course), one of the islands' most loved establishments is enjoyed by day visitors, holiday makers and locals alike, many of whom come back time and time again. The restaurant has beautiful, terraced outside seating as well as a large and warm converted barn loft for the cooler days or evening dining.
Services
There is quite a history to Juliet's Garden Restaurant and Bar. We first opened in 1982, just as an outdoor caf (we were just 'Juliet's Garden' then, as a clue to visitors that there was no inside). The tables covered the top level terraces that you first come down into.

We soon outgrew our little serving shed (although we insisted on calling it 'the kitchen') and started applying for planning permission to convert the disused loft of Seaways Farm packing shed into the two loft floors that you see today.Six years later we succeeded! That was about twenty-five years ago.
The daytime menu, served from 10am to 4pm and tea and cakes up until 5pm, seven days a week, consists of freshly cooked meats, homemade delights and of course, as much fresh local crab as we can get. You will find a selection of freshly prepared salads, sandwiches, pts, light lunches, large platters, soups and baguettes.
Here on the Isles of Scilly we specialise in growing the scented, multiheaded narcissi know as tazettes, the best known being the variety called Soleil d'Or. These differ from the normal large flowered daffodils, and so you might find the care tips on the other page to be of some help in growing them successfully.

What a fantastic area to have lunch.
Really nice selection of food, great and helpful staff.
If you can sit out side ie the weather is good, then your get to enjoy the birds sitting by you waiting for you to finish :)
The view across the bay is very post card scenic which adds to the ambiance

After many recommendations we decided to venture up to Juliet’s garden for something to eat . On arriving the sign said closed but we walked in to at least see the views . Anyway we could see that there were… people inside and a young lad did pop his head out and said they were open . We went inside and the young lady at the bar just said to grab a menu and find a table and Someone should be with us shortly . This was when things went down rapidly. Now we are aware that the majority of establishments were getting ready to close for the season but if your happy to take our hard earned

An absolute gem. 4 stars simply because service was rather slow and people weren’t served in order of their arrival. This impacted on the time left to explore the island before our ferry left. Nevertheless, a large jug of Pimms was enjoyed in the glorious sunshine with absolutely stunning views across the harbour. All meals ordered were thoroughly enjoyed and were really fresh, tasty and of the highest quality. We would definitely return.

Yes the view here is as glorious as people say, the food excellent too.
We actually came several days ago to find it closed due to the 'pingdemic'. Today we returned and after a short wait for a table we were glad we did.
Crab was off, they had been so busy, our Platters included squid instead, which actually preferred. All the food was delicious and plenty of it.
The visit was made even more enjoyable by the temporary staff that had been drafted Inn their name badges made things really good fun and 'all hands to deck'. One lad's saud 'don't ask me I am 13', another 'don't ask me ask my mum

Juliet’s garden has definitely been one of our favorite places on St. Mary’s island. It offers a beautiful view across the harbour and it is a lovely spot for food and drink throughout the day but is particularly special if you are seeking an evening meal and / or drink at sunset time. Its strategic position, along the coastline path, makes it a perfect spot for a relaxing break during your walk on the island. Even more relaxing if you enjoy nature, the garden like environment provides green surroundings and the local birds (mainly bold and friendly sparrows) really enjoy interacting with you

Arrived 1:30pm when the restaurant wasn’t overly busy, waited for 15 minutes to order, no crab and no any quiche so pretty much half of the items on the menu were not available. Ordered just a cream tea in the end and waited for another 40 minutes…very poor service and the food quality was quite average

Visited 3 times during our 6 days in the Isles of Scilly, unfortunately fully booked up for evenings - Lots of sparrows if you eat outside in the sun - food very good. We enjoyed our evening meals there 3 years ago - specialising in fish of course, but good other choices too! The Harbour can be seen from their windows and all external eating areas (see photo)

We came here last year for my fiancée's birthday and came back again as the views are worth all the stars. We had no complaints whatsoever, we actually visited a couple of times! However, this year our experience has been lackluster and a bit of a disappointment. The views havent changed so don't be bothered by that. The food is just about average and considering the price we expected a better quality. Our chief complaint is the service... we kept wondering if they had just woken from a nap or were so unhappy that they ignored the basic task of asking if we were okay. Everytime someone walked

Fantastic view overlooking the harbour and delicious cream tea. This was our treat after walking around the whole island on the coastal path. Pleasant end to our walk.

Polite staff but the lunch my wife ordered came with maggots in it so that has ruined the meal.

Delicious food in an unsurpassable location. Friendly, welcoming and efficient staff. The menu had interesting specials and top quality standard main courses. The pink duck with pearl barley was a really well… conceived dish, and the desserts were just divine. A memorable evening as the sun set slowly beyond the garden. Thanks to all.

Best views of any cafe / restaurant on St Mary's. Great selection of drinks, especially the gins and accompanying tonic, the ice also comes with a twist! Food is amazing and so are the staff. Have been there for brunch, lunch and dinner on different days, and has never disappointed in any respect...

My partner and I decided we wanted to get married on St Mary's, because of covid restrictions, we wanted to make the most of having a smaller wedding (30) and make it extra special for those attending. Our… guests were mainly in their 30s or 50s and all a lively crowd up for a good party.
The location is insanely good. About 20 min walk from the main town and fantastic views.
Walking access isnt that easy for elderly guests but we had disabled guest attend absolutely fine by arranging taxis.
Planning everything was fairly easy, as all of our wedding suppliers came from the island, they all

We come to the restaurant at least once every time we visit and always have an enjoyable meal with a great view. This year was no exception and the manager Maria was absolutely fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble and she made our 6 year old son, Josh, feel like a king and kept him entertained on a very busy lunchtime whilst we waited for our food.
