When Hattie Hasan started Stopcocks in 1990 its central pillars were respect, peace of mind, quality service and aftercare. We believed then (and still do) that you, your home and your time deserve respect and the highest quality services. Customers deserve better than the treatment we know they traditionally receive from plumbers and other tradespeople.
By standing for quality customer service we aim to change the culture of the manual trades, especially of traders who come into your sanctuary, your home. Stopcocks Women Plumbers mission has always centred on serving our customers. Although our mission has grown, nothing has changed and these four pillars remain at the centre of our approach.

Services
We're following these guidelines in the homes of our customers in England to keep you, our engineers and our other customers safe. In Wales and Scotland only emergencies will be attended. Both of these instances may mean a postponement of your appointment unless it is a genuine emergency - that is, no heat, no hot water, no water, a gas or water leak.
From designing and installing a new bathroom through to helping with plumbing maintenance work. All our plumbers/heating engineers are fully trained* and continue to receive our unique training in customer service as well as system design and fault diagnosis. No training of this nature is delivered elsewhere within the industry.
If women aren't well represented - at every level, in your business you're missing out on our insights into the market. Are you a business who wants to increase your productivity, reach ALL your customers and ultimately improve your bottom line by having a more representative workforce?
Are you seriously concerned about the shrinking workforce in the construction and maintenance sector and keen to attract 'new blood' at the same time as making your business more attractive to highly committed recruits? Are you worried your business is 'stuck in the past' and want to find a way of bringing it into the 21st Century?

We're committed to improving access and conditions for women plumbers and within the industry as a whole and look forward to meeting and joining with plumbers, gas engineers and businesses who share our vision. You can meet other women plumbers, heating engineers and trainees all year in our friendly and supportive Facebook Group - Female Plumbers and Heating Engineers.
Stopcocks founder Hattie Hasan MBE is always the first port of call whenever anyone wants to know what's going on with women in plumbing and heating, in fact she was awarded an MBE in the 2020 New Year's Honours list for her services to women in the industry. Petra was asked to do a safety certificate on my boiler and told "I think the boiler is leaking as the pressure keeps going down really fast." She did the certificate, but when asked later to return to fix pressure drop replied: "Unfortunately a gas safety check does no include maintenance... Mentioned was the boiler pressure with no request to fix". I paid £150, so I'm very unhappy with the service.
