Passing your driving test is an important milestone, proving that you have reached the required standard to satisfy an examiner. I will teach you additional skills so you can feel safe and comfortable to drive on your own and really enjoy your driving experience.

I'm Gavin and am a fully qualified Approved Driving Instructor living in Bangor, Northern Ireland. I specialise in advanced driver training however I offer professional tuition to drivers of all levels. I hold the title of Institute of Advanced Motorists Master Driver award, widely recognised as the highest civilian standard of driving ability in the UK and am the chairman for Belfast Advanced Motorists.
Whether you want weekly driving lessons or a fast track intensive course, I tailor each lesson to suit your needs and abilities. Learning to drive can be a stressful experience for some, but not with me. From the first lesson to the last, you'll get patience and professionalism from me at all times, making learning to drive an enjoyable experience.
Completely new to driving? The 10 day course is aimed at those with little or no driving experience and consists of 4 hours worth of lessons for 9 days and 4 hours on test day (40 Hours). This course will take you from starting to learn to drive, to passing your practical driving test and feeling comfortable on the roads in as little as 10 days!
Whether you have just passed your test or have been driving for a number of years, motorways can be stressful and intimidating. Although, statistically speaking, motorways can be some of the safest roads in the UK, the higher speed limits involved can put people off driving on them. By completing a motorway course or motorway lessons, you'll learn the skills you need to safely navigate across the motorway network.
If you've taken a break from driving for a while, for whatever reason, it can sometimes be a challenge getting back in the driving seat. With refresher training, you'll get your confidence back and make sure your comfortable driving on your own.
Refresher training can be tailored to suit you and your circumstances (such as driving again after returning from university; driving again following a collision or just needing a boost of confidence on your driving ability).Additional topics where required to ensure you feel comfortable, competent and confident to be out on the roads.

Gavin is one of the best driving instructors about and an all round gentleman, made me feel at ease as soon as I got in the car, knows his stuff and he’s good at explaining everything in an easy to understand way. Couldn’t recommend him enough!

Gavin is Fantastic! I suffer from dysfunctional personality disorder and was so paranoid about the idea of learning to drive or crashing my instructors car or harming someone. As well as socialising with a stranger, however Gavin was so friendly and laid back. I did a intense course over a week and passed my test first try I couldn't be happier. He did everything at my pace explained everything in a way that was easy to understand, he was very flexible with my schedule as I work nights, there isn't a thing I would fault him for. His service & dedication to teaching you to drive, and not just pass

Totally recommend Gavin as a driving instructor! I was a very anxious driver before and Gavin gave me a complete boost in confidence! He teaches driving in an up to date, and practical way and explains how to be a better driver beyond just the test. Also friendly, kind and patient! I had a really enjoyable set of lessons and I cannot thank Gavin enough for helping me get through my test!

I would totally recommend Gavin. I contacted him through great reviews I seen as I moved to the country and needed to pass my taxi test, from the very start he was brilliant, explained everything I needed to do. He was very easy going, explained everything in detail, felt like you could ask him anything. And what I liked is he asked how you thought you drove before telling you how you actually drove. I passed my test first time even though typical pass rate is about 20% Fantastic instructor and thank you

Had started with Gavin as a refresher course after recovering from several failed tests, and can 100% say that it was the best decision ever going with Gavin. He made you feel comfortable in the car and made every minute worthwhile. With his incredible sense of humour and upbeat and comfortable personality, I was thankfully able to pass my test today! I can not recommend him enough to anyone who wants to learn to drive, he is hands down the best! 😎

Before I met Gavin I always doubted myself. I thought I would never be able to drive. I was so scared of crashing the car.
Right from the first lesson Gavin was patient, kind and listened. For every session there was a lesson to learn.
Gavin would often say that he's not coaching me to pass the test but to be a good and competent driver after the test.
I can confidently say I am a competent driver. I would definitely recommend him.

When learning to drive it's important to pick the right instructor or you'll get nowhere. Gavin is, I believe, perfect for just about anyone. The patient, understanding, and professional approach to teaching you how to drive that Gavin employs didn't just get me past my test but has set up a strong foundation for my future driving. He's perfect for drivers who are nervous or doubting their ability - he will give you confidence in yourself.
