Based in Stratford-upon-Avon, Hawkes Edwards is a RIBA Chartered Practice working on projects across the UK. Founded in 1955 the practice has always specialised in historic buildings and new build within a heritage setting, with the majority of projects based around either the sympathetic adaptation, alteration, conservation and repair of listed buildings or new buildings within a conservation area.
We value careful and conservative repair, and believe that the alteration and re-use of these buildings is best informed and inspired within a strong design environment. Our focus on strong concepts ensures alterations are of a high architectural quality, allows heritage buildings to continue to be relevant and give historic sites a vibrant sustainable future.

Services
Please don't hesitate to get in touch to discuss your needs. We work UK-wide but carry out the majority of our work across Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Oxfordshire, Cotswolds, Gloucestershire, Shropshire, Derbyshire, Northamptonshire, Birmingham and the West Midlands, in addition to projects further afield.
We are a RIBA Chartered Practice and offer a full service based on a traditional service and the RIBA work stages. We can take your project from concept to completion but also pick it up from anywhere in between or offer a flexible service. We offer advice on development, planning potential, feasibility studies, adaptation, extensions, historic buildings, new buildings, and maintenance.
We are a design-focused practice and create both contemporary and traditional style homes for our clients, whether as part of a development or as new dwellings. Recent examples include a large (7000sqm) luxury property in the Cotswold AONB (featured in UK Vogue Magazine) and designs for a butterfly house in Warwickshire.
Designing a new detached pool house in a contemporary style that would sit sensitively alongside the Grade II listed 18th century stone farmhouse. A full refurbishment of this Grade II listed house included extension, a swimming pool and pool house, as well as full redecoration and fitted furniture.
With pressures on housing stock and a greater appreciation of the irreplaceable character of historic buildings, we are always delighted to be involved in designs to convert, adapt and sensitively re-use historic buildings for a different purpose. We have long experience of converting barns and rural/agricultural buildings to both residential and commercial use, working for private clients and estates.
