My name is Ian Beard and I have been an a Driving Standards Agency approved driving instructor for 15 years, so I consider myself very experienced. I have also been graded the top grade A instructor by the driving standards agency. I train people to drive safely, not just new drivers but I offer refresher lessons, Pass plus and motorway lessons, as well as intensive courses.

I was really lucky to find an instructor like Ian Beard, who is always calm and patient and most importantly very professional. Ian is so patient, even for someone with awful nerves like myself. It took my awhile to pass but Ian always believed in me. Honest about when I was ready, didn't push me too hard but also was encouraging. Flexible with lessons and I recommend Ian to anyone learning to drive in the Wivenhoe/Colchester area. Fantastic instructor.

I'm was very lucky that I found a professional instructor like Ian, enable me to pass from the first time, I strongly recommend him.
I can say clearly that his target is to give the trainee all his previous skills and experience as soon as he can without wasting the time to make him drive safely and to pass straightforward at the first time.

I was recommend Ian Beard by my sister who passed first time and I now I know why!! He is a fantastic instructor who was always committed to helping me pass not only pass but become a safe driver. He taught me from the very basics and now feel very confident driving and passed first time as well. Couldn’t of asked for better support and flexibility!!

I've been a driving instructor for 13 years in the UK and 15 in Australia. Whilst on holiday in the UK I wanted to get my nephew through his driving test. In the time that I've been away the test has changed a fair bit and I needed some local knowledge of the area, so I contacted Ian. I observed the lesson from the rear seat and was really impressed by Ian's instruction. His lesson was very structured and informative and he had a very friendly, relaxed manner.
