Myself and my friend had an amazing stay! The staff were very friendly and welcoming and ensured that we had a comfortable stay. The Christmas decorations in the hotel were gorgeous and we were a perfect distance from visiting various attractions. The location was peaceful but still not too far from all the action. We will definitely return, thank you ☺️

Visited for first time last night for some cocktails after seeing sponsored listings on FB rather than normal hotel at West End. Not disappointed, great cocktails, fantastic staff and surroundings.

Went here for afternoon tea for a special birthday and it was fantastic. The staff attention from the beginning when we walked into the hotel was lovely, and afternoon tea, in beautiful surroundings, with a choice of teas was the best we have ever had. Even when I had forgotten to mention a food allergy when booking it, it was no trouble and it was easily accommodated. We couldn't finish it all and they even provided a small box to take the spare cakes with us for later.
I can't recommend this place enough, and if we ever come back to Edinburgh, we will have afternoon tea here again

Lovely Boutique hotel. Would stay again. However anyone booking to stay to spend a long weekend, the hotel is about 15 - 20 minute walk for sight seeing. This didnt bother us as we enjoy walking

The Bonham Hotel is a quiet property located near the city center and main attractions, but in a calm neighborhood. All places have a classic decoration which provides a cosy feeling.
The room we have stayed in was a Townhouse Double and it was a little bit small (but with a huge window with a view). The rooms are well equipped with several amenities but no air conditioning (we did not need it but in summer may be different).
We have had some minor issues that were promptly handled by the reception staff.
Regarding the breakfast we would have liked more options regarding the continental breakfast

Pros:
Hotel is beautiful and in a great location as it’s about a 10min walk from the city centre.
Staff were great and accommodating. Hotel food/drink prices are much the same as establishments in the city centre, making it an ideal place relax in the evening.
Lounge menu is really good and the food was fantastic!
Cons:
The mattress was extremely firm it felt like you were laying on concrete.
Bathroom has mould around the shower screen and plugs for the bath and sink. There was also broken enamel on our bath.
Wine glasses that came with our wine were dirty. The mugs in the room for tea

We have stayed at the Bonham several times and always had excellent service, however this visit did not live up to a 5 star experience. Breakfast service was slow and we had to remind staff we were still waiting for items from the kitchen. Staff seemed disorganised and under pressure.
The bar service at night was worse with a large party in the bar and no apparent table service. When I went to the bar there was only one barman to cope with this. He was apologetic and struggling to cope through no fault of his own.
I mentioned this on checking out and was told that there were difficulties getting

I am so disappointed with my stay at the Bonham, and we were so looking forward to it. We paid £350 for a superior double and got put in a bog standard room... Definitely not worth that kind of money. The manager assured us this was a superior but their superiors range from massive and grand (as per the pics when we booked) to not very big or impressive (we suspect we were actually put in a townhouse double instead as this room looked exactly like those they had on their site for the cheaper rate). They did move us but again, nothing like the images of the room we had booked. Felt completely fobbed

Thought very average for the price. Had two rooms for a night in August and found the welcome and general service weak. After a meal out stopped by the bar, even though few customers, service was abysmally… slow and the choice of cocktails / ambition of the barman really disappointing. Expect much better at well over £300 a night per room

We've been sending guests to the Bonham for years and they are always delighted with their stay. I had the chance to stay here again and update myself with the hotel. There has been a lot of money invested in The Bonham and it really is first class. The service is impeccable, and the room was very comfortable with outstanding vies to the North of the city and to the Firth of Forth. Lots of great details worth mentioning, like USB sockets, making phone and other devices easy to charge. Comfortable beds, outstanding breakfast. You should also know, there are few hotels in the city that offer a short

We were married at The Bonham recently and we can’t possibly put into words how perfect the weekend was. The hotel itself is such a romantic setting, the decor itself does not need much extra to set the tone. All staff were so helpful and thoughtful - and flexible in the run-up to the weekend. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and professional - and very kind! All our guests expressed glowing feedback. Beautiful hotel, spacious, stunning rooms, and just such a lovely place in general. Food was 5 stars, for certain. Thank you very much indeed.

Outstanding! We are here visiting from the states. The five of us all had 3 or 4 course meals. We all got different things and shared a few bites. We wiped our plates clean. We spent a few hours chatting, laughing, telling stories and raving about the meal. This one is for the books. Great service and the food was phenomenal!

Very average steak.

Salmon was well cooked but lacked flavour.

The terrine tasted like I would imagine cat food to taste.

Smoked cod scotch egg was really nice.

A very pretentious feel to the place considering the food was positively average.

Poor value for money.

Would not recommend. Although the breakfast we had the next morning was lovely. I would say come for breakfast, not for dinner.

I came last Saturday with my partner for lunch with a voucher. I hadn't been recently to a "heavy-style" decorated restaurant, tall ceiling, old style, wood everywhere and it was a welcomed change. The photographs on the wall of this building from a professional photographer were giving me tips for my future style :-)

Now, to the important bits: food! The service was very friendly and quick, attentive.

We started with smoked salmon, and pumkin ravioli, so pleasant and rich to the palette. Proper bread was served earlier on with the butter in the right room temperature.

Classic hotel restaurant decor; walking in you expect this to be a great experience. But reality proved different. Unattentive service; chaotic staff. Ordered a glass of wine; it did not show up until I asked when it would be served then it came five seconds before the food arrived. The food was good, at least mine but my companion said her's was tepid. Atmosphere was 8; food 7; service 2. Ask for check and they had to re do it as the left off some items. Then we had to hunt for my wife's coat.

We visited during the week, on a Wednesday. The Hotel and Restaurant are easy to find. The restaurant is a large spacious area. It could easily double up as a decent ballroom.
On arrival we guided to our table and our coats were taken. As we were on a voucher the particulars were explained to us and they supplied a menu for us to look over if we wanted some starters. We took on the offer and ordered Roe Deer Carpaccio and a couple of champagne kir aperitifs. The kirs were decent, not outstandingly nice, but having some interesting taste. The Roe Deer was served with what can only describe as

I had heard good things, so when I saw they were running a deal on toptable, I was excited to finally check this place out...

Sadly I was nothing but underwhelmed.. The food was nothing spectacular.. the service was about the same.. they completely forgot about our side of vegetables and when we asked they came up with some poor excuse before producing a plate of pretty sad looking veg..

The entire experience was just lacklustre..

With so many other options around town.. I won't be hurrying back..

We went there based on Yelp's reviews because we were staying across the road at a beautiful luxury holiday apartment.

The food was good, not cheap but ridiculously small portions. Like they served at the height of the silly nouvelle cuisine movement in the early 90's.

I had a good hamburger down the road at Wannaburgers afterwards and I am not a big eater.

We were served good sized portions at all the other Edinburgh restaurants we went to, while staying there.

I went to the Bonham for the first time recently to partake in their Afternoon Tea - what can I say?! Truly scrumptious!! Everything was 'mini', fresh and homemade - well worth a visit. This, along with The Prestonfield hotel, was the best Afternoon Tea I've ever had. Yummy!

The restaurant at The Bonham inhabits some really classic and traditional West End space at Drumsheugh Gardens. Most of the properties here form part of big, imposing buildings, with dramatic front doors and windows. The restaurant at The Bonham is part of the four star Bonham hotel, which is really beautiful inside.

I came here for lunch with the family, and although it wasn't super busy, with only what looked like a few business lunches on the go, the atmosphere was still great, and felt very elegant, spacious and refined. Despite the menu and some of the decor having a modern edge to it
