Aswanley
Aswanley is situated in the River Deveron valley, on the edge of the Scottish Highlands near Huntly, Aberdeenshire. It's been a much-loved family home for many generations and it's a wonderful place for weddings and holidays. The wedding party has exclusive use of the space - it can be used for ceremonies of all denominations, or just for the wedding reception.

The venue includes everything you need, from chairs & tables to a well equipped catering kitchen, including cutlery, crockery and glassware. We have three self catering Highland holiday cottages on the Aswanley estate.
Services
Jack was brought up on Aswanley where, as a child he helped his father with their flock of 800 sheep and 250 head of beef cattle, driving machinery at any opportunity. A natural mechanic, he took an Engineering and Business degree at Oxford Brookes University and went on to work for rally teams including Prodrive and Tuthills Porsche before recently taking over the reins at Aswanley.
If your surname is Gordon you will almost certainly be descended from Jock or Tam Gordon, sons of Sir John Gordon (d.1394) by Elizabeth Cruickshank of Aswanley. Around 1640, Aswanley was 'modernised' into an L shaped, 2 storey and garret, 2 spiral stair tower house. Lawlessness meant protection was necessary, shot holes, window bars, a well within a high courtyard and a strong arched gateway.
Welcome to Aswanley, a secluded fortified house and Victorian barn on the edge of the Highlands near Huntly, Aberdeenshire. It's been a much-loved family home for many generations and it's a wonderful place for weddings and holidays in the Highlands. We have created an unusual wedding venue suitable for both sumptuous wedding receptions and intimate family gatherings.
The 17th Century fortified house and gardens provide a magical backdrop for a wedding; and once the formalities are over, the Victorian barn is the ultimate place to celebrate. Aswanley is a garret tower house set in extensive grounds with a seventieth century arched gateway and well. Outdoor ceremonies and receptions can take place in the gardens at Aswanley.
Although this is probably not what you initially planned, small weddings can be beautiful. We have worked hard to put all the extra measures in place to keep guests safe whilst retaining the unique ambience and aesthetic of Aswanley. We can host micro wedding ceremonies in the Fireplace room for 20 guests or in the Ballroom for more guests if restrictions allow.

A well designed wedding venue with plenty of scope for individual choice within the building.
There is ample room in the main hall for the tables for the reception to be along the side and the main hall is ideal for a disco or ceilidh. Outside in good weather chairs can be set out for an outside wedding ceremony.

We decided to have our wedding here as we wanted somewhere relaxed and informal to have a our wedding reception. That is definitely what we received, we had a lovely relaxed day and our guests absolutely loved the setting, enjoying the scenery while having the canape's in the afternoon. You cant beat the view and the setting of Aswanley, its very secluded.
We were provided with lots of help and advice from Louise Brown, the wedding coordinator at Aswanley. Nothing is too much bother for her and she constantly tried her best to help us work through what ever we wanted to achieve.
I would recommend
