As You Like It
Here at As You Like It, we specialise in weddings of all sizes - tastefully traditional or daringly different - from formal dining for up to 120, or a luxuriously laid-back affair for up to 200. We're fully licensed for ceremonies too, not to mention your own private bar, outdoor terrace and we're open 'till 2am (Jesmond's only 2am License) - look no further when it comes to tying the knot.

Our dedicated team of wedding and event elves are sure to deliver a 5* service every time, so let them do the hard work while you dance your socks off till the early hours surrounded by twinkling fairy lights, beautiful blossom trees, and your nearest and dearest. A completely separate room just for you and your guests on your big day.
Services
Every member of staff was thoroughly professional, and nothing was too much to ask for. Bailey our Coordinator on the day had everything in hand so we'll and wasn't flustered by anything. We didn't catch all their names, but they were all amazing. A young guy helped Nina into the taxi and helped us the day after with picking up all the items from the day, he was always around helping with a big smile on his face.
We have some amazing, multi award winning, sister venues that you may like to consider based in the North East. A short while ago, we had a dream; a dream of a fantastamagorical place where all that is uncool about the traditional country house can be left behind and replaced by all that is fun and imaginative.

Arranging Christmas get together .
Booking process not easy.
Accessing direct help not easy having to go through third party and still no acknowledgment of deposit payment. Sad as once you manage to get inside, based on past experience, the food is great and the staff are friendly and helpful

Booked in for Sunday dinner, arrived early but were seated straight away. We both had the beef Sunday dinner, tasted great. The usual veg; roasties, mash, carrots, broccoli & red cabbage. Special mention to the Yorkshire pudding which I thought was really tasty (as far as Yorkshire puddings go!). Followed up with Eton mess sundae, didn't look much however every spoonful was a taste sensation!

The worst service ever. Called ahead and made a reservation for 2 for 4:30, even showed up early and was seated shortly after. No one came to our table for 30 minutes - not even to ask for a drink order - and the waitress that sat us wouldn't even make eye contact. We finally go up to the bar to try to order and are told someone would come to our table within a few minutes. Sat around for another 10 minutes and still no one, my boyfriend went to the bar to pay for the beer he got before we got seated and waited around for another 15 minutes, still no one to our table..
We waited for an hour

I did not have high expectations going into this restaurant but it is amazing!! It serves the best fish and chips I have ever had!!
I could not finish as it was a massive fish and they offered to put it in a takeaway box
The restaurant is very classy and has one of the most comprehensive drinks menu. The bar is properly stocked up with more spirits than you can count.
Table service was excellent and it is child friendly
Lots of cosy dining spaces and I think I saw some couches

To be honest, I had higher hopes. It’s not the the food is bad, it’s just that the place decor is perfect and the food isn’t even above average. It’s still a great one time experience 🤷🏻‍♀️

Really nice atmosphere to spend a relaxing evening. Lovely food and a great cocktail list... even better when buying in the happy hour! Staff so friendly too.
Would really recommend this venue.

As You Like It is a beautiful bar, with an atmosphere sort of like being in a fairy tale. I love the décor, and the unusual odds and ends, the style of the furniture, all of it. I've enjoyed drinks here a few times - come when there's live music for a great experience, we were dancing around for hours - but it's also a good place to eat. I've had food here twice, including sharing the delicious camembert, and the very nice lamb skewers. The menu has lots of unique options, some of which are at least somewhat healthy! It's a bit out-of-the-way, but worth the effort

We went out dancing at As You Like It and had a fun time grooving to the cheese fest live band. Drinks seemed to be coming astonishingly quickly at the bar given it was a Saturday night, which was a plus. The crowd was generally all right although there is inexplicably a trapeze hanging over the middle of the dancefloor which drunkards kept launching themselves onto only to find themselves being manhandled of the premises by an enormous bouncer. I seriously did not appreciate (a) one of the people swinging kicking me in the shoulder (b) being shoved aside by the bouncer more than once. Seriously

Best selection of mojitos around and all drinks are very well presented. If you don't drink alcohol, you'll soon want to when looking at the choice of drinks here.
Lovely decor and great atmosphere, especially when there's a live band on.
I have eaten here twice and both times enjoyed the food. Also my experience has always been good due to the staff, so I give this place 5 stars!

I'd been looking forward to this meal so to say it was disappointing is an understatement.

Starter of asparagus and goat's cheese salad was overpowered by the cheese and uninspired.

The main was awful. The slow cooked pork was tasteless and dry, the potato fondant too firm and insipid and I had to scrape the cloying black pudding and apple stuffing from the back of my teeth.

I left over half of it. I'd gone to the toilet when the waiter came to take my plate but my wife told him that I hadn't enjoyed the meal at all. He said nothing nor did anybody else even when taking

Another quirky venue owned by mr Lynch's. During the day, asyoulikeit functions as quite a nice little restaurant, whilst at night you can expect to find a completely different scene. Live bands on occasion and a very busy loud atmosphere. The place is always buzzing with a mix of customers from students to business folk. Drinks are pricey, but overall a cool place to hang out night or day.

It calls itself 'Jesmond's most beautiful restaurant' and even if it isn't true, the decor is certainly eclectic and interesting to look at. My bf brought me here for my birthday dinner; the bar was crowded and the bartender slightly inept. His steak was amazing, my Moroccan lamb was inedibly bland, but the cheesecake was delicious. Service was quick, if brusque. The outdoor terrace seems like a nice place to hang out though.

Great place to go for a quick drink or to to go our of a night. The food is also pretty good, but pretty expensive for what it is. Brilliant venue for a birthday party or special occasion though as it has lots of spaces and private rooms avaliable for hire. Especially good on live band nights (genre varies).

Great place to have a drink and spend the night into the early hours. A bit more posh than its brother Mr. Lynch across the street but still the same great cocktail menu.

Very nice staff and great smoking area on the balcony with heaters. Had a catered event there last summer and I can recommend it as the value for money is just right. However not tried the sit down meal here yet.

Parking if you are not drinking is easy in the evenings too.

The three of us went here on a Friday night and the atmosphere was lively, in fact it was packed. Ate in the restaurant upstairs, which is more expensive than eating in the bar area. Food was fantastic! The service was very good. There are cheaper places to go in the area but for a special occasion it is well worth a visit.

We visited Newcastle in the summer for a hen weekend. As you like it had been recommended to us by a local. Our hotel was in Jesmond so perfectly placed for the restaurant. We had booked in advance and they put us in the private room on the mezzanine level. The room is open and overlooking the restaurant and so retains the atmosphere. We didnt have to pay for the room but needed a minimum spend, which was easy with 10 of us. We had our own outside garden terrace, fridge and toilet! The food was beautiful..the best fish and chips I had ever eaten! We then went downstairs to listen to the live jazz

This bar is perfect for a night out if you have a dress or shirt you couldn't resist buying, but don't really know where to wear it to. Not that anyone would look too out of place casually dressed here, its just that there is a real atmosphere of glamour not often found in bars in university cities where cheap is usually the watchword. Because As You Like It (yes, its a strange name, an if you're talking to someone who doesn't know it's a bar, it can get a bit confusing) is not cheap. Drink slowly (try the 'double cush wor kid' - it's a drink, honest), to

I think this place is a little too 'try hard'. Its owners started off with Mr Lynch's across the road which is fabulous and loved by all. However, they didn't quite get it right with As you like it. Your first impression when you walk in is an amazing venue with the most gorgeous decor- and it is. It looks trendy, upmarket and swish, which it kind of is if you are only there for drinks. Sit down for a meal however and you will no doubt be disappointed. The restaurant area is gorgeoous and cosy but the food is overpriced and pretty average. You'd expect alot more from a
