The Cedars is a private care home for older people. We have been operating from this site at Methley for over 30 years. We are registered to care for older people who require residential care due to general infirmity and/or who experience dementia or other mental health difficulties. For people who do not require permanent care then a day care/respite service may be available (our Manager will be happy to discuss this further).
It is difficult to cover all the information relating to the Cedars on this website, so if you would like any further information in relation to the services provided by the home then please make an appointment to meet with the Manager (or member of the management team) who will be happy to assist with your enquiry.

Services
The Cedars is situated on the A639 Leeds road opposite Methley Church - a few miles from Castleford in one direction and Rothwell and Leeds in the other. There are also a number of taxi companies who provide a service to the home, some with disabled access. As for medical services the local GP surgery and pharmacy are situated in the village and provide first-class support to the home.
At the Cedars we appreciate that a resident's room is a personal and private place and must always be respected as such - we are always keen to stress that first and foremost this is the home of the resident. Accordingly, and to enhance privacy, there are special locks on bedroom doors that can easily be operated by most residents.
The management team consists of John Allott (Managing Partner), Angie Richardson (Registered Manager), Liz Guilfoyle (Deputy Manager) and Sarah Hutchinson (Assistant Manager). The management team possess all the relevant accreditations and qualifications.
Emphasis is placed on leading the home forward in terms of providing person centred care and the Cedars is pleased to be associated with the University of Bradford and the University of Stirling Dementia Studies Departments. The Cedars is very aware of the importance of multi-agency working in relation to dementia care and is also represented on a number of local bodies, for example Leeds Integrated Dementia Board.

In addition to the management team we have a committed staff group. The emphasis of the Cedars is to have a satisfied and happy staff team who will in turn provide a first-class service to our residents. We see stability and continuity amongst the staff as of paramount importance, and a good number of our staff have worked at the home for many years.
Over the years the residents at the Cedars have developed a Charter of Rights to remind the staff and management what is expected from the home. This is on display on the residents' notice board and serves as a continual reminder to us all!
At the Cedars we appreciate how difficult it is for a person to leave his/her own home and we will try and assist with this transition as much as we possibly can, without inhibiting an individual's independence. However, for those residents who lack capacity they will probably have difficulty leaving the premises due to the Cedars door and perimeter security / safety measures.

THIS HOME IS NOT DEMENTIA FRIENDLY!!!!!! Had my mum stuck in her bedroom for the majority of the day due to a noise she makes due to her alzheimers. Also used a hoist saying she couldn't bear her own weight. First day in new care home she walked a few steps. 5 months in and my mum is able to walk on her own.
