Quernmore Valley is located on the old Roman road from Lancaster to the Trough of Bowland, which is an Area of Natural Outstanding Beauty, and is a short drive away from the historic city of Lancaster. The cottages, which can sleep up to 11 people (5 +6), are ideally located for access to The Lake District, North Yorkshire Moors, Forest of Bowland, North Lancashire and Lancaster University / University of Cumbria.

This is a truly rural retreat, but within easy reach of Lancaster (approx 3 miles) and local amenities. Access to the M6 is convenient for junction 33 & 34 and Lancaster University is only 8 minutes away by the scenic route. Explore the local markets in Lancaster, Garstang and Clitheroe, visit near by fine food establishments serving local ales and home cooked food or just simply enjoy the undisturbed surrounding countryside.
Services
Ground floor: A large hallway leads onto the lounge with an open fire, a leather 3-piece suite and a 37 widescreen LCD TV with integral DVD/CD player. Following on from this, down two small steps, is a dining room furnished with a solid wooden table and 6 upholstered chairs. Sliding glass doors lead on to the mature garden, which has a flagged patio and a small unfenced stream.
The entrance to the house is by 1 small step from the gated driveway, which will accommodate 3 cars comfortably. Once through the front door, (inward opening), there is a porch area with coat hooks and console table. There is also a glazed partitioned doorway leading to the spacious hall. Off the hall is the master bedroom, family bedroom, single bedroom and family bathroom.
Cycling is also popular in the area - again you can get away from the busier areas and experience the peace and quiet of the landscape. For off-road enthusiasts there are opportunities to explore the Gisburn Forest area and cyclists are also permitted to use bridleways.

Road cycling is also an attractive pursuit, especially on the officially designated 'Quiet Lanes' around Slaidburn, Chipping and Downham; and on the more challenging Tour of Pendle Race. The Forest of Bowland AONB is gaining a reputation for fine food and local produce, so why not seek out some local producers and encourage your visitors to try our delicious local food and drink!
The cottages are located in Quernmore Valley, only 3 miles East of the historic city of Lancaster. The location is ideal for adventures to the Lake District National Park, Yorkshire Dales National Park or to the major cities of the North including Preston, Liverpool and Manchester. Come off the M6 motorway at Junction 34, take the A683 (east) signposted Caton, Kirby Lonsdale.
Here at Quernmore Valley Cottages we are committed to providing a good quality service, whilst minimising the environmental impact of our activities, and ensuring guests have a comfortable and pleasant stay. A symbol of this commitment is our membership of the Green Tourism Business Scheme which encourages sustainable practices to enable the continued enjoyment of the natural environment around us for future generations.

We have just been for our third visit to Beck Cottage. It's in a lovely location so peaceful and yet only a few miles to Lancaster the Lakes. It has everything you could need including great Internet connection as my sister had to do some online work whilst there with no issues. Malcolm and Michele are so helpful and friendly. We hope to visit again soon. Highly recommend.
