EMERGE currently employs 33 staff within EMERGE Recycling, FareShare Greater Manchester, Touch Wood and EMERGE 3Rs (the parent charity), the majority full time. We also engage around 50 regular volunteers who work in the various parts of our social business and charitable group. EMERGE 3Rs has a Board of Trustees of 8 and 2 further Non-Executive Directors on the subsidiary board of EMERGE Recycling.

EMERGE 3Rs has secured a long lease for a better building to operate from, still on New Smithfield Market, to provide better quality facilities for our staff, volunteers, donors and the wider community.

FareShare Greater Manchester is always looking for volunteers including job-seekers who want work experience. People giving their time is at the heart of everything we do. Volunteers and work placements help our small staff team to run our operation. In return we provide on-the-job work experience and accredited training in food safety, warehousing and delivery driving.
Whether you've got spare time on your hands or you're actively retired, we need regular volunteers to help out in our busy reclaimed wood workshop. You'll be unloading and moving supplies, measuring, shaping and assembling wood and assisting with customer orders. These roles suit people of all ages, job-seekers, retired or semi-retired people, college students or DIY enthusiasts.
