The New Golf Club St Andrews
Founded in 1902, The New Golf Club is one of the most prestigious in St Andrews. The formation of a new club with its own premises - at a time when the only golf clubhouse in town was exclusive to R&A members - was enthusiastically supported. Along with the eight local businessmen who can be credited with the Club's creation, Tom Morris was a key supporter.

Old Tom regularly frequented the Club and it was here that he had the accident which would lead to his death. The Club has developed and grown much over the last century and more.' The Club offers members the opportunity to play in over 130 golfing competitions annually, over six of the St Andrews Links courses, including four Major Meetings played on the Old Course.
Services
Honorary Membership is an honour which the Club does not bestow lightly. Restricted to 'distinguished strangers', The New Golf Club has had only five Honorary Members in over a century of its existence - and never more than one at a time. Our second was Sandy Herd, a native St Andrean. Sandy won The Open at Hoylake in 1902, the year The New Golf Club was founded.
Members of The New Golf Club are very fortunate to play their competitive golf for some wonderful trophies on some of the best links courses in the world. A series of medals and stablefords take place monthly on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays interspursed with team and social games. All the competitions are drawn to encourage integration of new members and general fellowship amongst the membership.
It was built in the Victorian era when the town was extended and laid out to welcome new residents and the town's growing reputation as a holiday destination. In keeping with the Club's motto 'Semper Nova', the Clubhouse has continued to evolve to provide Members with a first class facility located alongside the 18th fairway of the Old course.
The Main Lounge, located on the first floor, is a large and comfortable social area where you can eat, drink and enjoy the company of your fellow golfers. It is not only the outdoor view that is highly recommended - by browsing the pictures and boards hung on the walls of the Main Lounge, you can get a real taste of the Club's history.
The dress code in the clubhouse is smart casual although some social events may have specific requirements. Please dress appropriately and note that scruffy or torn clothing is not considered suitable. Shoe protectors are available at the entrance to the clubhouse for use with muddy footwear. Smart denims are permitted.

Eating here with such beautiful views over the course and west sands beach was a real treat. The burger with bacon jam is an absolute must!

The clubhouse bar has literally the best view in world golf - overlooking the 1st and 18th of The Old Course. Great food too and excellent service. First class facilities for members and visitors/ guests. The club also has 3 flats to rent for members to stay in. The whole set up is superb
