Endodontics or root canal treatment is carried out on teeth where the nerve of the tooth has been damaged by trauma or decay. It involves the removal of the pulp tissue of a tooth when it becomes inflamed or infected. The debris within the canal is removed then the canal is cleaned and disinfected prior being filled and sealed with a root filling.

A crown, or a 'cap' as it is often called, is a restorative treatment, which strengthens, repairs and improves the appearance of a tooth that you already have.
