One of the best Sunday roasts in Greenwich. The pork belly was crispy and tender. The gravy was plenty and delicious and the potatoes and root vegetables cooked to perfection. The staff was very friendly and the ambience was very warm.

Nice environment, family friendly before 7pm, fair variety of beers, large "covered outside" area, pet friendly.

Good size pub with garden. Using QR code you can order and pay at your table. The beer was good, but the Sunday roast not so much. The vegetables were undercooked and the Yorkshire pudding still half cold as I presume it came from the freezer...

This has been my local pub for 9 years now, so I've seen it go through quite a lot of change. It's in a great location, has a big outdoor space, and is running some good events now - like Movie Mondays, half price food Tuesdays, etc. The food is fairly average, nothing special.
They used to have a decent selection of craft beers, but have really scaled it back during Covid to the usual array of naff beers. Hopefully they will increase the selection again soon. Some other pubs in the area offer a much better beer selection - e.g. The Crown just down the road.

As a number of our family live in Kent and South London, we celebrated my husband's 80th birthday at The Vanbrugh instead of in Oxfordshire where we live.
We were made very welcome by Joanna and her staff. An area had been set up for us under the large awning at the end of the garden with side tables for the food, cutlery, plates, glasses and wine which we ordered from the bar. We appreciated the jugs of iced water too. The staff were very attentive, checking on when to serve and clear the food and carrying drinks out to our guests.. They opened a tab for us behind the bar and warned us when it

A very pleasant intimate pub. Trendy grey on the outside, smart trad on the inside with a lovely garden area. The Vanbrugh brew is a good beer; I had this with the delicious fishcake (in a super sauce). Service is earnest and friendly!

Visited The Vanbrugh last Friday and coming back this Friday! Fantastic service- excellent food and great vibes! Ross was very helpful on the phone while I was booking a table and during dinner. You can spot on straight away that every single member of staff does ‘an extra mile’ to pleased the customer. Very much recommend it!

Really cool back garden area. Food was good, service was friendly. Nothing to complain about!
The chicken burger was very good. Not mince, white meat. The mushroom meatballs were new to me and had a great tomato sauce.

We arrived with great expectations to this place after all the reviews read here. Should not have to... Our orders have been forgotten and had to wait an hour. But at least a round of drinks was offered. When the food finally arrived it looked great, but the taste was less than average. I have tasted much better Sunday roasts. The red cabbage was great, but that's all the positive. I do not have much expectation for a yorkshire pudding, but it was flat, soft and unsalty. The three miserable carrots and the four soft potatoes could not compensate. The thin slice beef was Ok. I will revisit after

Walked past a few times and had always meant to go in. Went for Saturday lunch. Great selection of beers and bottled cider. Ended up having a three course meal. Starter: halloumi. Main: veggie goats cheese pie and vegan burger (with cheese). Dessert: apple and berry crumble. Very impressed with a good selection of vegetarian and vegan food which is refreshing to see, especially in a pub off the beaten track! Atmosphere was very relaxed and was plenty of room, even with the football on the screens it still felt like a quiet pub. Would very much recomend for food and drink and to avoid the bustle

Here's the evidence that the visible kitchen may be more than  a party trick: the tartar sauce appeared to be truly homemade... the sample on the plate of haddock differed from that on the whitebait. Very little fat on whitebait, but chips were mega battered. Fair enough to the chips, they were called triple cooked and they were delicious, so I don't find this as offensie as the lighlty battered. Read the full review here: http://wp.me/p5fONJ-lh

This is a nice looking pub, I particularly liked the slightly unusual area to the back left of the pub (not the back right that is Gastrocorner). It's just a shame that the ale selection is a little on the boring side.

I used to live in nearby Calvert Road so this was my local for some years. I still pop in from time to time though, as I can vary my journey home by getting off at Maze Hill station (about five minutes walk away).

The Vanbrugh is staffed by a young group of people who are, on the whole pretty friendly and welcoming, and it attracts many regulars. The rear section of the pub is more of a restaurant - part of which is under a canopy (bit chilly in the winter). Food is probably above your usual pub grub - with a variety of specials.

At the back there is a garden/patio - a petition to Greenwich Council

I've spent many an evening in the Vanbrugh Tavern. It is hidden away in a backstreet in the slightly more unpleasant side of Greenwich.

It is a really lovely pub. The interior has a traditional feel to it, whilst still feeling quite trendy and modern. Outside there is a large garden with numerous picnic tables where they have barbeques in the Summer, though when I was there recently some of the garden area was fenced off.

They serve a wide of selection of wines by the glass or bottle (Prosecco being my favourite), and the food is good and seems to be home made. There is an open kitchen

This is a somewhat hidden gem situated near Trafalgar Road in Greenwich. Inside it is very modern, with a large and refreshing beer-garden in the back. The staff are very friendly, and they host a number of weekly activities such as a quiz night.

The menu is limited, and not very vegetarian friendly, but the food is excellent. In the Summer months they also host barbeques, which I'm told are very tasty (being a veggie its not really my thing).

Overall the atmosphere is really friendly, with a vast range of customers. The beer selection is also pretty standard. Very nice surprise in a
