We are a family oriented, mixed NHS and Private Practice, and as a result can offer a full range of both simple inexpensive NHS treatments along with more complex and cosmetic options Privately. Over the years we have developed a very friendly and happy practice to work in and hopefully this is reflected in our patients experience when attending the practice.
Our aim is to offer advice and quality care, which offers good value, in as friendly and relaxed a way as we can. NHS patients will always be offered the most appropriate NHS treatment option, but we are happy to discuss Private options not available on the NHS and an explanation if we feel they are more appropriate than the basic NHS option.

Services
Whilst still remaining committed to the NHS, we also provide a wide range of Private Treatments including white fillings, tooth whitening and other advanced procedures. A full list of our Private fees is available on request. Robin Thompson only treats patients on a Private basis and should you wish to see him then you would need to join our Dental plan.
Robin started Westport Dental Practice in 1998, which quickly grew from initially a single dentist practice to 2 dentists in 1999 and progressively to the present time with 2 full time and 2 part time dentists. Having graduated from Dundee University in 1978 and eager to develop his skills Robin completed 4 years of specialist training at Edinburgh Dental Hospital.

My dentist was Louise. She seems a very nice person, but not a good dentist. I wanted to have one crown done on a wisdom tooth and one other crown. I requested if this could have been done in one go. She agreed and I booked a long appointment with her.
1) I had to wait a month for this appointment, because of the length of the appointment.
2) In that appointment, she claimed that the crown could be not exactly very well fitting if she prepared both teeth in one appointment and asked if I wanted to have them done in one single appointment. Why did not she say this at the beginning? She prepared

We moved to the area about two years ago, so I needed a new dentist. I had an emergency case before I could register with any dental practice. Giving a call to a number of practices, West Port Dental was the only one, who seemed to be happy to help me instead of directing me to NHS help line. They returned my call and I could have an appointment within a reasonable time.
Their welcome was nice, my broken tooth was fixed very well. The receptionists and nurses are very nice, helpful and friendly, not speaking about my dentist, Donald, who is more than I expected. He discusses everything with me
