At Barry James we believe it's you, the Bride & Groom who should be centre of attention on your wedding day - not the photographer. It is our job to capture the very essence of the day to provide an album full of memories of people, a little family history, moments of fun, happiness and emotion and the all important detail of the day, with plenty of natural relaxed images of the bride & groom as the story of your special day unfolds.

This is quite often the first question we are asked and without doubt one of the most difficult to answer because no two weddings are ever the same and no two brides want the same thing, every wedding is unique.

It's a little like trying to purchase your wedding dress blindfold and wearing gloves! - you need to see and feel - which is why we are always happy to spend some time with you to present our packages and coverages to you, and to explain how they fit in with your budget.

My first wedding was in the late 1980's, Barry James launched full time in 1990, with my sons Stuart and Stephen joining the business in recent years. I haven't missed a wedding yet and do not intend to, however there are 3 photographers in my family, I have many local associates and we are members of a number of national organisations that we can call on for help if need be.

Over the last 20 years it has been our privilege to work at many stunning venues both at home and abroad; from Scottish Castles to country retreats, from Abbeys to city centre hotels frequented by the rich and famous, as well as the obligatory school and village hall! Scott and I began to make our plans for our special day back in 2014. As with any wedding, having the memories of our day captured was certainly a priority therefore we began the search for our wedding photographer. We attended various wedding fayres and spoke to a few people offering a photography service.
