Services
Eckling Grange was founded in 1960 as a residential home for retired missionaries and those who had ministered in a full time capacity. These original aims of the Charity have not altered but today the complex is open to everyone. The day to day management rests with the General Manager, Care Manager and the Trustees of Eckling Grange who meet together regularly.
The home was the vision of the founder Mr David Potter. Mr Potter was inspired to open Eckling Grange after he had witnessed the heartbreaking splitting of a couple Mr and Mrs Griffiths when Mrs Griffiths required a small amount of nursing care twice a day. The Griffith's had faithfully served as missionaries for 53 years and it was their parting which lead to the establishing of Eckling Grange.
For many years Eckling Grange has been supported by those who give their time to assist with life around the Grange. We currently have a team of over ten volunteers of very varying ages, from 16, to one or two even in their early eighties. All give their time to see the resident's life's enriched. This team brings with them a positive influence to the Grange.
One resident said: "The staff are super they adapted to my needs very well", and another said of the staff "They treat me with respect, we can have a laugh together". A recent resident said: "I think the staff here are absolutely wonderful, I came here for a week to try the home first and I was pleased to stay here and be looked after".
Set in the oldest part of the home, we cater for the varying care needs of our residents. There are forty rooms split on two levels and the first floor is accessed by two individually sited lifts. The rooms vary in size and outlook and the majority have en-suite facilities. We are able to care for those who have a very low care need, through to those who require twenty four hour bed care.
