Rooney Family Law
As our name suggests, we only practice Family Law. This is because we believe that when dealing with such important issues which affect you, your child / children and / or your financial future you deserve to know that the solicitor you choose lives and breathes that area of law every day. We are unaffected by the influence of other departments and pressures, allowing us to focus on the Family Law issues you are facing.

We are experts in Family Law. Our Lawyers are accredited as Specialists in Family Law by the Law Society. Our Paralegals are also accredited by the Law Society. The Law Society says 'Accreditation acts as a hallmark of experience that a client can trust'. We use that experience to assist you with your case and to help you achieve the best possible outcome.
Services
As our name suggests, we only practice Family Law and are an Accredited Family Law Specialist. This is because we believe that when dealing with such important issues which affect you, your child/children and/or your financial future you deserve to know that the solicitor you choose lives and breathes that area of law every day.
Where there are children involved our main goal, from the outset, is to ensure that their best interests are met. Depending upon the reason(s) for your separation it is important that you both remain focused on what is best for the children, notwithstanding any ill-feeling between you. That may be difficult if one person has been unfaithful or behaved in a way which you could no longer tolerate.
We offer a fixed fee service for undefended adoptions of 1,500 + VAT. There is a court outlay of 96. The majority of these types of cases arise when one of the natural parents has a child/children from a previous relationship and marries. The new spouse (who is the step-parent) then wants to adopt the child to form a family unit.
If Residence is not in dispute the question of the non-residents parents contact arrangements needs to be dealt with. Again, if this cannot be achieved by agreement, mediation or negotiation the court would decide what the arrangements should be. Failure to follow what the court has ordered can result in serious repercussions and possible criminal proceedings for contempt of court.
Residence is governed by Section 11 (2) the Children (Scotland) Act 1995. You may well manage to agree who the child/children should reside with and who should exercise regular contact with them. There are no set rules for who should be awarded residence of the children. If you cannot agree then the courts consider what they think is in the child/children's best interests, and grant a Residence Order in favour of, usually, one parent.

After spending a small deposit on a house with another law firm i decided to change, and i am so glad that i did. Brian Rooney and his team, achieved my divorce in a seamless manner, even through a pandemic ! There a communication was swift, and in the manner that i preferred. I'm hoping i don't require the use of a family law specialist again but should i do i wouldn't hesitate in using Brian and his team.

I contacted Rooney family law wth regards to arranging a contact order for my kids. The advice was excellent, the cost of the services are fair and actions on the back of our meetings/discussions are prompt.
Does everything he says he will and most importantly he got me access to my kids.
Couldn’t recommend Brian and the firm enough.
Very grateful for all the help so far
