Ipswich Building Society
In November we're changing our name from Ipswich to Suffolk Building Society. It is a new name to make us more appealing across the county we call home - and an old name to stay true to our roots. From buying a home, to building one, we're dedicated to making it easier for you to achieve your dreams.

We take an ethical approach to lending, basing our decisions on your needs and a complete understanding of your circumstances. Our transparent policy enables us to offer many different savings products, with a range of terms and interest rates. Regular savings, ISAs, long-term and commercial deposits, all our savings products are designed to offer fair returns and clear, unequivocal terms.
Services
We're all about helping our members to grow and prosper. And we're all about being local. We've been doing this since 1849, and we're Suffolk through and through. We're interested in what our members and the local community are doing and we want to roll up our sleeves and help out. It doesn't end there.
We encourage personal and professional development throughout our organisation, and offer opportunities for growth and change. There are a wealth of different career paths here, and opportunities to find your own direction, supported by us. We offer opportunities for school leavers, apprenticeships, and graduate entry as well as those making a career change, or returning to work after raising a family.
It is a new name to make us more appealing across the county we call home - and an old name to stay true to our roots. In 1849 we were founded as the 'Ipswich and Suffolk Permanent Benefit Building Society' and over our 170 years have dedicated ourselves to protecting the money of generations, for generations, with a continuing physical presence on high streets across the region.
The Society is proud of its place within the heart of Suffolk, and we are dedicated to understanding and caring for the needs of our membership, staff, local businesses and the environment in which we live. We deliver this though our face to face contact and dialogue, the products and services we offer, our partnering arrangements and our involvement with local charities, businesses and community groups.
Time is often more valuable than money, so we like to support charity and community organisations by lending the expertise and enthusiasm of our staff. All employees are encouraged to use 4 hours per month, every month, to volunteer for a cause close to their hearts. Whether this is individual or in group sessions, we keep it simple - employees can use their volunteering hours for any charity or community organisation they wish.
