Our Contemporary rugs and carpets offers a modern design portfolio, driven by cutting edge styling and design. We offer styles to suit your modern dcor and taste, produced with only the finest quality wools and silks. We source the majority of our Modern Oriental rugs and carpets from India. We make several trips a year to India in order to ensure that each piece is being made to the highest standard possible.
The Ziegler design was developed in the late nineteenth century by the eponymous Ziegler & Co, a German company that worked with Persian rug makers to create rugs for the European market. The design is also known by the name "Choobi", which means "of wood" in Farsi and refers to the soft earth tones that characterise the rugs' palette.
Modern Kazak rugs continue a tradition of geometric design established in the Caucasus region, but today tend to be made primarily in Afghanistan. They make heavy use of intricate cross and diamond motifs, and tend to feature red, blue or green as a primary colour with golden yellow as a secondary colour.
A mixture of fun, bright colours and traditional pattern motifs, our unique kilim range will add some warm sophistication to your home. These flat weave rugs are textural and rustic in their charm, brimming with bold traditional symbols from the centuries of rug making across the world.
We oversee all aspects of production, from design through to realisation by our dedicated manufacturers, ensuring stunning looks, top quality and affordable prices.

Our range of authentic tribal rugs features pieces that we have personally sourced from many of the Middle East's tribal and nomadic peoples. The rugs often display geometric motifs that have cultural meaning for the rug weaver's tribe. The rug designs are not often planned out ahead of time but are made using the weaver's imagination.

This was my first experience with The Rug Shop. I had 2 very dirty rugs which needed cleaning. The team picked up the rugs and 2 weeks later returned them. The colours were very bright and they looked so different. We are very pleased with the cleaning service provided. I'd definitely use them again.

The Rug Shop cleaned a very large Axminster rug for us and we were very pleased. On returning it they commented on a smaller rug and explained it could be cleaned and repaired, including binding the edges and repairing the ends. This they have done and the rug looks fantastic. We are very happy with the work done. They were very helpful and efficient. Thoroughly recommend them.
