Blocks are typically 100mm thick and intended to be built into a structure, be that a boundary wall or as a structural component in a building - a lintel for example. Lettering is hand carved in fine grained sandstone which is buff in colour with subtle variations. It is also possible to produce your sign in reclaimed sandstone for a more rustic feel.
Plaques are suitable for wall mounting, fitting to an existing structure. They are usually between 38mm and 50mm thick depending upon size. Signs are hand carved in fine grained sandstone which is buff in colour with subtle variations. For a more rustic feel there is the option of using reclaimed stone which suits older properties.
These large sandstone signs are ideal for placing at the gateway to a property where a plaque on a wall may easily be missed. Boulders are chosen deep enough that they are suitable to be installed directly onto prepared ground. Slabs are thinner pieces of stone which are intended to be concreted in place or incorporated within a larger structure.
Commissioning a memorial to a loved one is very personal and it is important that the design process is client led. By exploring letter types and incorporating relief carved elements, the headstone you commission will be unique. Once we've agreed upon a design the work is transferred to stone and hand carved in memorial grade Yorkstone at the workshop.
