Slate re-roofs - Slate is a natural product unlike many other roof products; it is more expensive than artificial man-made products i.e. concrete tiles but has a greater life span and is exceptionally durable in comparison.Slates have an expected life span of 75 years compared with as little as 12 years for artificial materials such as concrete tiles.

The eaves of a house are the part of the roof that overhangs the edge of the walls, keeping water clear from the walls, and preventing problems with water and damp seeping through into the building. To protect the rafters, boards are added to the edge and the underside of the eaves. These also provide a firm base to which to attach gutters.
Cure It, the GRP roofing system which we use, is issued with a 20-year warranty. The product is a fully-formulated, wet-laid, GRP waterproofing system. It is highly flexible and is fully bonded to the roof substrate. The system will be resistant to any wind uplift that could reasonably be expected during the product's lifespan.
Cast iron guttering systems are used widely on traditional buildings and heritage sites throughout York. Cast iron is a long term solution to guttering and has a fantastic life span if maintained correctly. It comes in a wide variety of shapes and sizes i.e. half Round, moulded, rectangular etc. There are many cast iron extras available like hopper heads and detailed pieces which are available to suit all building designs.

Reliable, first class communication and response and brilliant work - overall a completely refreshing and outstanding experience for what could have been a really stressful job (complete re-roof) . I have used Richard and his team at RKS several times (from an urgent repair to a complete re-roofing, and insulation installation as well) over the last few years and can only say that they are unbeatable. Not only are they excellent workmen who do a brilliant job, but they are prompt, turn up when they say they will, friendly, courteous and reliable. Richard keeps in touch with you at every stage, and follows up after the job is finished too, which is a big bonus. We've recently had our roof fully re-done, and I was extremely impressed with the way the work was undertaken and completed. There were a number of complications to the work - not least the gable end of our roof being 4 inches out of square! - but these were professionally overcome with no compromises on the quality of the workmanship. Communication was excellent throughout the whole job, with all queries and questions promptly responded to. I can not recommend RKS Roofing Contractors highly enough.

We have used Richard and his team a couple of times now for roof repairs and would not look at another company. The quality of the workmanship is outstanding. The team is very hard working when on site and Richard keeps you constantly updated with photos of the work being performed. Richard and his team are very popular and you may have to wait a while for the work but we’d far rather wait than chance our arm with a different company.

Richard and team were fantastic, they installed a solar tube into our hallway. The quality of the installation is excellent, all the work carried out to the highest standard. Customer service was fantastic throughout the whole experience, from quotation to installation. I would recommend them and I would certainly use them again.

We used RKS a few times. Richard and team last year came to replace the roof on a property we moved into, the existing roof was in a terrible state of repair. They did an amazing job, everything was up to a great quality, even our builder was very impressed with the end result. Richard has also been a great help to us for our rental property, replacing and repairing the loose roof tiles and most recently stopping a vibrating down pipe for us.
Richard is extremely responsive and helpful and honest.
We will need to replace the roof on our rental in the next few years and will 100% use RKS, we wouldn’t
