Overlooking the front garden and the hills surrounding the beautiful Irfon Valley, this room has a king-size bed and ensuite shower, loo, handbasin and heated towel rail. Overlooking the terraced gardens behind the house, this room has twin single beds and an additional bed, which will be provided if required.
A delightful and well-equipped cottage immediately adjacent to Kilsby House on the edge of 2.5 acres of garden and private woodland, with abundant wildlife and spectacular views. Kilsby House nestles into the east side of the Irfon Valley, overlooking the ancient church of St David's in the original location of Llanwrtyd and receiving the full glow of the setting sun. The hillside is steep and the garden sculpted from terraces made from the volcanic rock beneath. The house was originally built as a school called 'Glenview' by the Rev JR Kilsby Jones in the 1850's.
We value and enjoy the natural environment at Kilsby, growing what we can, sourcing our food locally and recyling as much as possible. Our home-made vegetarian 'Glamorgan sausages' are a treat for anyone. Our chickens provide the eggs for breakfast and the meat, flour, jams and fruit juice are locally sourced where possible.
A spectacular drive from Kilsby to Abergwesyn and the upper Irfon Valley takes you via the Devil's Staircase, past the reservoir Lynne Brianne and then down the majestic Tywi Valley to Llandovery, 11 miles away. Builth Wells hosts the excellent Wyeside Arts Centre for cinema and live performances. The Roman Gold Mines at Dolaucothi only 30 minutes away are exceptional.
