Services
The Physio Place offers a comprehensive range of services aimed at prevention, treatment and long term resolve of musculoskeletal aches and pains. For those people looking to start a new activity, sport or job, perhaps thinking of buying a new sofa or bed and would like some advice we offer sports specific assessments, gait/running analysis, workstation assessment and postural advice regarding day to day activities.
This assessment will watch you walk and/or run, identify any problems that can be seen and advise you of these. There will also be an assessment of your lower limbs and their mechanics, muscle strengths and lengths as well as a quick check of your core control. This assessment is particularly helpful if you are a runner, considering running, have aches and pains associated with running/walking.
With so many people now working from home, it's more important than ever to ensure that workstations are well set up to minimise risk of work related/aggravated problems. Anyone working daily for more than an hour on display screen equipment (DSE) should be carrying out an assessment of their workstation.
As you probably know, a lot of sports injuries don't just suddenly happen but can be due to a gradual build up or overuse of muscles/tendons/ligaments due to poor technique, muscle imbalance and/or poor mechanics. These can lead to problems such as tennis elbow, knee pain or back ache all of which can limit or stop us from doing the thing we enjoy most - sport!
Following a year of restrictions and significant changes to the way we live our lives, issues affecting the wellbeing of many people are now more prevalent than ever. The Physio Place is keen to help businesses provide Wellbeing support to their staff teams.
The dictionary defines wellbeing as a 'state of being comfortable, healthy or happy' adding that feelings of wellbeing are fundamental to the health of an individual, enabling them to successfully overcome difficulties and achieve what they want out of life. This definition tells us why it's so important for staff wellbeing to be good, not just for everyone as individuals but for also for the business they work in.

Just had a treatment with Jemma for my lower back pain (strained and painful due to a spot of heavy gardening) and have come out feeling so much better. What i particularly liked was that half of the appointment time wasn't take up with form filling and medical history. The intake was really efficient and more time was spent on treating the problem. Jemma was super friendly, really knowledgeable and gave me some really helpful tips on exercise for preventing it happening again. No more treatment needed, unless the problem reoccurs of course and, if I do something daft and it does happen again,

Jemma is an excellent physio! She is very personable and extremely knowledgable when it comes to figuring out the source of the problem and treating that as well as the symptoms, because of her knowledge and experience Jemma's treatment is very effective and she is often able to treat an issue in a couple or even one session. Jemma takes seriously the level of activity you aspire to return to and helps create a plan to get you there.
Over the years I have visited Jemma as a muscular-skeletal physio and have only positive things to say about the treatment she has provided, more recently I have

I first visited Jemma at David Lloyd Centre in 2009 with a running-related issue I couldn't shake. She fixed me up in two sessions and I ran my PBs shortly after. Whenever I've overtrained or injured myself I go back. My most recent complaint was severe tension in my back and shoulders, and after an ergonomic assessment of my work setup, some practical guidance and some work to get everything moving again I'm in much better shape. Definitely recommend.
