Grey Bear
The antique pieces are sourced from all over the UK and further afield to bring our customers a range of unique pieces. All our antique furniture is carefully upcycled giving it a new lease of life that works alongside modern living. Depending on the individual piece it will either be polished to perfection or reinvented with a paint job using Farrow & Ball.

We have a passion for interiors and antiques and enjoy curating the shop displays in a contemporay way giving our customers an enjoyable shopping experience. You can find Greybear at 3-4 Bridge Street which is just after the Ouse Bridge at the bottom of Micklegate. We have a vintage bike with a basket full of flowers outside the front of the shop, you can't miss us!

Be aware this shop does not offer refunds, only exchanges. Whilst they have a very small sign on the desk of the counter (and one on the wall, which is not visible to read at all), it is very misleading. My partner bought a Christmas gift (globe) which wasn't accurate for £85 without the staff notifying him to the no refunds policy, which you might expect they would at Christmas time. There is very little of substance to spend £85 on in the store, so very disappointed.

I love this shop. It's always full of gorgeous furniture and bits for the home. The shop is beautifully presented and the staff are always so friendly. The owner upcycles a lot of the furniture herself and it is all of such a high standard. Definitely give this shop a visit when in York!

Expensive mainly repro and expensive cheap stuff , chance of finding a treasure perhaps ? bit tacky but presented very well and quite beautiful shop but not for the seasoned antiquer ? Actually quite like their style but a bit home and garden type stuff , very few real antique or old stuff can probably buy much of it on Ali sites but might take 30 days to arrive , understand the high prices as staff and shop can not be cheap ,

My favourite shop in York and a great location near the river! There are some gorgeous gifts, home accessories and furniture that you can pick up for your home, a lot of which is lovingly upcycled by the owner. You're sure to find something you like! Staff are really friendly. Defo worth a visit.

Just visited this shop for the first time and bought a lovely up cycled chest of drawers! The owner does all the up cycling herself and there is some really lovely quirky items in there. I couldn’t resist a vintage toy which was a dog on wheels! The girl who served me was really helpful and friendly. Will definitely be heading back next time I’m in York!

I bought a gorgeous lamp and and pretty tea light holder from Holly in her shop on Monday. I love my purchases and will definitely be going back for more.
