Intervention Architecture
Intervention Architecture Ltd (IA) is an interdisciplinary design studio based in Birmingham. Our way of working is collaborative and open, to enable extensive exploration of ideas, an inherent appreciation for craft, and the value of workmanship and materials.

We are an award winning, RIBA chartered architecture practice, a young boutique studio, with a rigorous design approach, from development of sketches to material details, to the making of space and collective involvement is essential to the realisation of our projects. From community-led architectural regenerations, to artist collaborations, we invite people to become engaged with space in innovative ways.
Services
A brand new interactive website dedicated to the project has been launched providing information about the new station design and a variety of concept images. Users will be able to browse the designs and leave their comments directly on the website for the project team to view. In addition, three virtual webinars will be held which will include a presentation of the station design followed by a Q&A session.
Working with the founders, Sen Elder and Emma McKinney, from the outset of their crowdfunding drive, for Public House we designed the transformation of an unused shop space into a new space with co-working, a library & an artistic programme of events and talks. We designed constructs and moveable furniture for the space that will enable a multi-functional working zones that can be taken with us to future homes.
IA have recently designed and completed the built-in joinery and refurbishment of a studio apartment in the Barbican, in London. Working closely with the client, a royal ballet soloist, we injected movement within the space with a changeable joinery solution to maximise storage and create alternate uses and zones within a compact floor area.
We would like to share with you our recently completed project in Birmingham, a rear extension to a Victorian semi-detached house, with internal reconfigurations and bespoke designed joinery and new finishes throughout. Inspiration for the rear extension has stemmed from its context, a garden of mature timbers and greenery.
Intervention Architecture have worked closely with Grand Union on the design of the exhibition structures for this programme. Within the gallery space, we have designed and built as our collective, proposed distinct zones for adaptation 1. sight/projection viewing, 2. taste/ a mobile kitchen, 3. touch/ production print making tables.
