My name is Tom Ground and I qualified as a chartered architect in 1998 in Leeds. On my return to my Norfolk roots, I went on to work for two eminent Norwich practices, where I gained valuable specialist experience in conservation and commercial architecture. In 2000, I was approached by CAM Architects, a well-established practice in Norwich and was offered a partnership.
My work in the fields of commercial and conservation helped to expand and develop CAM's reputation. After twelve years as a Director, I decided to specialise and work closer to home with a new practice. I formed Ground Designs (Norfolk) Ltd in 2012, along with my wife, Anna, to serve clients across North Norfolk.

Positive: Professionalism
Ground Designs are a very professional firm. The owner was very clear on what needed to be done for my planning application, and gave good advice on moving forward my now successful application to build a bungalow on the land which is part of my property. I will certianly be retaining thier services for any future work.

After years of trying to get planning permission on our Grade 2 listed Thatched Barn we approached Tom to try and achieve a scheme that the conservation officer would finally approve of. Tom came up with a design that was passed but not without him having to go through all sorts of hoops to satisfy the officer. Tom dealt with the application promptly, efficiently and professionally always consulting us and keeping us informed. Despite the officers very negative attitude Tom has managed to still produce a great design that retains all the character of the barn but will still be a conversion to be
