George Hill originally began work as an apprentice joiner at Oldham & Hallworth Builders & Funeral Directors on Commercial Road, Hazel Grove. At this time the business was predominantly builders arranging approximately 12 funerals a year. George Hill worked at Oldham & Hallworth alongside John Bowden who came from a family of Iron Mongers based on London Road.
Joined the company in 1983 and is based in the office looking after all aspects of administration for the company, payroll and accounts. Barbara is also able to help every family in making funeral arrangements when the Funeral Directors are unavailable.
John joined the company in 1985 and is a past president of Manchester & District National Association of Funeral Directors and past treasurer of the West Pennine British Institute of Funeral Directors.

My family have recently used your service for my uncle, Ian Potts and I just wanted you to know how pleased I was with the service provided by your team, but Katie in particular. The whole experience was positive and seamless and during his time with you I honestly feel that Uncle Ian was cared for, safe and respected.
All deaths must be registered within five days of the person passing away or within five days of you receiving the medical cause of death certificate. Registrars require you to make an appointment by telephone or some offer an online appointment system, unless the Coroner has been involved.
The medical certificate shows the cause of death and is normally issued by the Doctor who attended the deceased during their last illness (This is normally in a sealed envelope addressed to the registrar and is free of charge). We can advise you if you are unsure of where to collect this from. The death must be registered by the Registrar for Births and Deaths covering the area in which the death occurred.

From first speaking to Katie about the plans for our son's funeral, we knew that we would have nothing to worry about. Every email or phone call was attended to promptly, allowing us to know that things were in place. We had asked those attending to wear Adidas trainers as this was a brand our son loved to wear and it was a nice touch to see Katie and her team wear their own Adidas trainers on the day in tribute. It's the little things that go a long way.
We had never had to plan a funeral before but Katie was caring, professional and listened to all our requests for the things we wanted on the

George Hill funeral directors are very professional and were very helpful throughout even through some tricky challenges because of our circumstances. Katie came across as a very competent but very caring funeral director. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to get you through one of the hardest things you will ever have to do.

George Hill funeral directors is a friendly and welcoming place. Katie dealt with my family from start to finish and made the process of organising my mums funeral a lot easier to bare. She is polite and sympathetic and we were all treated with respect. They go above and beyond to make the whole process less painful.
