Childs & Co was established in 2005 by furniture designer and maker Iain Childs in Kendal, Cumbria, on the edge of the beautiful Lake District. Our studio and workshop specialise in a diverse variety of furniture projects from our popular children's furniture and household pieces through to bespoke items of furniture.
Our range began with the ever popular personalised children's toy box and continues to grow with a selection of hand crafted furniture and unique products for the home. Iain Childs, UK designer and maker has been creating heirloom pieces from his Kendal Studio since 2005. Read his story here. Iain works primarily in British wood from sustainable sources and is inspired by the creative process of designing something from 'the scrapbook of ideas' in his head to a piece that makes a difference in a home.

Designed and built with flexibility in mind. We can vary the overall dimensions, finishes, colours and configurations to suit our client's needs, whilst always ensuring the core of the design is respected. We work with hotels, restaurants and contractors on larger schemes that require Childs & Co pieces designed and manufactured exclusively for their projects.
Our workshop on the edge of the beautiful lake district uses a combination of traditional woodworking techniques alongside more modern manufacturing methods, including our CNC facility. In addition to our own range of products, we are also commissioned to produce bespoke products for Interior Designers, Architects, Sculptors & Private Clients looking for a partner with expertise & materials to realise their ideas.
