MD, Tony Fillingham, started out as a one man operation using a mobile chainsaw mill gradually building up a stock of mature hardwoods from fallen and inaccessible logs. Today, the company has grown to become one of the UK's leading solid and engineered wood flooring manufacturers, operating from a 17,500 ft2 purpose built factory situated at the edge of the Yorkshire Dales.

All our solid and engineered wood floors are manufactured with care at our factory here in Yorkshire and supplied throughout the UK. All the timber we use is sustainably sourced and we apply an ethical approach to all aspects of our production process. Based in West Yorkshire within easy reach of the surrounding areas of Leeds, Bradford, Harrogate and York.
Our solid wood flooring is proudly made to order and supplied throughout the UK. We specialise in oak flooring and also make floors in a full range of hardwoods, including ash, maple, cherry and walnut. Our real wood floors can be produced in a range of widths and finishes, depending on the hardwood species.
Our solid oak flooring is by far our most popular species of hardwood floor. With its distinctive grain and gorgeous honeyed tones, nothing compares to the beauty of a real oak floor. Our floors can be supplied unfinished, or factory pre-finished with Osmo Polyx Oil which feeds and enriches the wood, accentuating the grain structure and producing a natural satin sheen.
Our solid walnut wood flooring is manufactured from sustainably-sourced prime grade American black walnut. The wood displays a gorgeous range of rich, dark tones which combine beautifully with the creamy, caramel coloured sap band. Our solid walnut floors suit both traditional and contemporary interiors and look absolutely stunning when contrasted with neutral tones and pale dcor.
Our wood flooring samples are an excellent way to demonstrate the quality of machining and finish that you can expect from us. Unlike other retailers, who send tiny unrepresentative samples, we prefer to send premium samples so that customers can get a really good feel for their chosen wood floor. Each wood floor sample is a full width board at about 7 inches in length and can be supplied with or without surface treatments.

Just wanted to post a favourable review after looking through the others I found a few 1 star angry ranters. Hopefully this will help balance them out. I've ordered a quite a bit of oak and walnut online from these guys recently and have found both the quality of the wood and the delivery times perfect. Hoping to call in one day.

I've visited British Hardwoods this morning and they were all so helpful I wanted to write a review. I found some very nice oak in their timber shop and a young man from the office took an order for some large pieces I need. Even though my order was small he took the time to explain the lead time and was very obliging and helpful. Very good customer service, thank you.

Service and quality was great initially, but it has been rather hit and miss at times. I just got let down by them again which is a shame.
They used to be good but I certainly wouldn't recommend them to others now.

Your recent refusal to supply came in retaliation to a complaint I made regarding the quality of some of the sheets in the most recent order.
You had previously confirmed my next order could be turned around in 4 weeks, I then confirmed the order after getting the go ahead from my customer and you let us down, causing a massive inconvenience.

I don't usually write reviews, but I have visited British Hardwoods Flooring a couple of times now and they always go above and beyond. My last visit I was assisted by Joe, nothing was too much effort, he helped me choose a live edge lime timber board then planed and cut it to size. The wood was great quality, excellent value for money, Joe then recommended the best product to finish what was going to be a live edge desk, which I have to say turned out better than expected. I can't recommend this place enough, for the product and customer service, great team, 5* rating

I only called in for a small piece of Ash to make a guitar body but I was totally surprised at the welcome and service I received there. This is after all a very big business and everything about it is huge, especially the machinery and masses of timber being worked on and moved around. However, nothing was too much trouble despite the small amount of timber I was buying that day. The quality of the timber they have in there is second to none and the piece I bought has shaped and polished to perfection. I can highly recommend this firm to anyone looking for quality timber for projects of any kind

I'm so happy to have found this company. It's very hard to source quality thin hardwood boards for laser cutting in the UK, but British Hardwoods have a wide selection at very reasonable prices. They even cut them to the lengths that I needed which saved me a job. Thank you, from a very grateful small business owner!
