After studying Furniture Making & Design at Chichester College. I went onto start my own business in 2011, which was driven by my love of Rustic and Reclaimed Wood. I make individual pieces of Rustic Furniture that are often made from historic and ancient Timber. I also work closely with customers to create commision pieces.
My Furniture is made & finished in a natural manner, working with the character of the Wood. A Coffee Table will have lovely organic curved edges with knots and Burrs throughout the wood. Rustic Chairs can be made using Reclaimed River Boards & Weathered Oak Beams. Chest Boxes are crafted using Cedar of Lebanon which has a long lasting sweet scent, and Ancient Elm lids.

Services
At Blackstone Chalk I create one off piece's of Furniture in a Rustic style that are made using solid wood such as Oak, Chestnut, Elm and Pine mostly Reclaimed from Historic locations and local Timber Mills. I also offer a Bespoke service to my customers that enables them to work with me designing Furniture such as Dining Tables, Benches, Chairs, Desks and Coffee Tables etc.
The Showroom is constantly being updated with new piece's of Rustic Furniture and Interior Gifts. My Workshop is also open everyday should you wish to pop by for a chat about a future commission. If you're looking to make a day out of visting me then Mottisfont Abbey is a 5 minute drive from here, and the Kimbridge Barns Tea Rooms are less than a 10 minute walk through the woods from the Showroom and Workshop.

I have been buying furniture from Matt for over 7 years and some of these have been commissioned pieces. I am very proud to have all of these in my home.
His workmanship and eye for detail are fantastic.
Highly recommend, a true craftsman.

I stumbled across Matt and Blackstone-Chalk after a random recommendation that I should visit during an open studio. It is amazing. The quality of the pieces Matt produces are truly extraordinary and his eye for bringing out the absolute best in the materials he works with is truly beyond compare.
Having bought a number of his one-off pieces (including a truly remarkable chair and coffee table) I commissioned some patio furniture which is classic, simple, yet absolutely beautiful - and so heavy it will last forever.
