Client money is any money that your business holds or has received on behalf of a client. This must be deposited into a segregated client account via cash, cheque, draft or electronic transfer. UKALA CMP means that, for the first time, tenants and landlords will be able to claim back the entire amount of money that has been lost or misappropriated by an agent such as theft of client monies by a Director, Principal or Partner.

I applied to join UKALA at the beginning of March 2020 because I wanted Client Money Protection. This was 3 weeks before lockdown started. I completed and returned all the documentation and then had to do it again because I changed my company name mid process. On 1st July (4 months after I applied) I was informed by email that I would receive a response by the end of the day. That was 19 days ago!!!! UKALA do not respond to emails, the phone gets cut off when you ring and quite frankly I'm sick of trying with them. Last week I applied to another CMP provider and today my CMP came through. Don't

I own and run a small estate agency based in the Canary Wharf area. I joined UKALA in March 2020 and so far i've been happy with their service. I havent needed to speak to them a great deal but when I have, they've been helpful. I cannot comment as to how they perform with a tricky query as I havent had any. As with all companies during the pandemic, they seem to be working on a reduced staff and there is sometimes a wait on the phones. The only criticism I have is I was contacted in October 2020 to commence an audit of my client account which i've fully complied with however they send separate

DO NOT use this company. They claim to have the most comprehensive CMP policy on the market. They take your money then refuse to provide you with a copy of the policy. I am not able to reassure my landlords that they are adequately protected. I have made almost 50 calls to them in 3 months and I am still waiting. I have made a formal complaint yet no one has even bothered to contact me or return calls. WHAT ARE THEY HIDING ????? I seriously doubt this policy is as comprehensive as they claim. Why refuse to provide a copy of it???? STAY AWAY AND GET YOUR CMP ELSEWHERE
