Services
The club was founded in 1890, so golf has been played on Chorleywood Common for over 125 years. It is the oldest club in Hertfordshire. In the early days, the club members included wealthy London gentry who used the newly completed Metropolitan Line to travel to and from Chorleywood. The original 18 hole course had 2 holes playing across the railway.
When visiting our Clubhouse you will have a warm welcome from our staff! Our lounge has a a large bar area with adjoining patio. The bar is well stocked with a wide choice of beers, wine and soft drinks and we offer a range of bar snacks and home-made cuisine. Altogether a great place for the weary golfer to relax after a round of golf or to enjoy our social events.
Use your Handicap Index and the tees from which you are playing, to determine your Course Handicap. If you are playing stroke play (Medal or Stableford) record your gross score but you will receive strokes equivalent to 95% of your Course Handicap. For matchplay then from the lowest handicap player you will receive 100% of the difference in singles play, and 90% in four-ball play.
Our Club Professional, Michael Moore, is a qualified PGA coach and gives both individual and group lessons at Chorleywood. He can be contacted on 07890 399263. Mike says I turned professional in 2010, after graduating in America on a golf scholarship. During my time as a competitor I played on numerous golf tours around the UK.
The Ladies Section at Chorleywood is a very active division of the club and comprises just under 60 members, 30 of whom play regularly each Tuesday, some of whom play just nine holes and most stay to enjoy lunch together too. There is a small Business Ladies Section which plays at the weekend, which the ladies would like to encourage.

Great place to walk, start at the Black horse on the common, then can do a number of circuits in and around the wooded areas, nice and cool on these hot days, the finish back at the pub to replace the calories you just lost :-)

Great 9 hole course. Lots of trees and long grass so take plenty of balls. You need to think your way around this challenging course but that's what makes it interesting. Lovely friendly, accommodating staff. Will be back.

Members were very nice and welcoming but didn't like the course and the fact the public taking there time walking down the fairway and a couple of lads playing football on the tee box.

Greens were in reasonable condition but tee boxes not so. And fairways reflect this is an open area. Picturesque amongst the trees. However one major issue is the public who seem to have no regard that they are on a golf course and oblivious to anyone around them.

I'm a local and member so know the course well. It's a great little 9 hole course across Chorleywood Common. Not long (5684 yards off the white tees) and there are no sand bunkers, but don't be fooled there are plenty of natural hazards to contend with. Three really good par 3's which make or break your round and the par 3 5th is a tough test at 180+ yards and a small green to hit - even the pros struggle on it at the annual pro-am.
Easy to get on and the visitor green fees are reasonable. You have to be patient now and again as footpaths cross some of the holes so wait for the dog walkers to
