Congratulations Ben on passing 1st time with only 2 faults - well done again and enjoy the freedom of your car. Congratulations Steven on passing your test. Absolutely great driving instructor. I passed the first time with Mark couple of years ago, today my husband passed with him again. Mark is so fun but professional and safe driving.
Take effective observation before emerging at junctions and into the path of other vehicles. Use your rear-view mirror and wing mirrors - and react to the information they're giving you! Don't change direction, increase speed or pull up without mirror checks. Maintain a steady course and don't mount the kerb.
Before you can start the driving test you must demonstrate that your eyesight is good enough to be able to drive safely. You do this by reading a clean number plate of the old style from a minimum distance of 20.5 metres (approximately 67 feet or 5 car lengths). If reading a new style number plate (these letters are narrower) you must be able to read it from a minimum distance of 20 metres (approximately 66 feet).
Engine oil level is checked by the on board computer in my car, however if your car has a dipstick, this is how to check it. Identify the dipstick, pull it out and clean it with a cloth. Dip the dipstick back in, pull out and measure the oil on the end of the dipstick between the minimum and maximum markers.
