You may apply for your provisional car license 2 months before your 17th birthday, but you must not drive untill it comes into effect. You will need to fill in an application for a driving license (DL1), this can be obtained from any Post Office.
On your first lesson you're A.D.I will check you're provisional license, you will also be required to read a number plate (with glasses or corrective lenses if necessary) from 20.5 metres (67 feet) or 20 metres (65 feet) where narrower characters 50mm are displayed.

You can book your theory test by ringing 0345 600 6700 or you can book it online at www.nidirect.gov.uk. In order for them to book it they will require your driver number from your provisional license and you're debit or credit card details. The current price is 23.00. Newry Centre is located at 12 John Mitchel Place opposite Newry Market.
You must have passed your theory element before you can apply for your Practical Driving Test. Both tests have to be passed within a two year period. If you can't you are not ready for the test. Wait until you are ready, it will save you time and money. Your instructor has the knowledge and skills to tell you when your ready to take the test.
Newry school of motoring is a member of the Newry & Mourne Approved Driving Instructors Association. Broken appointments - 48 hours notice of cancellation is required otherwise full charge will take effect. It is true to say that the most expensive is not always the best and the cheapest is not always the worst, however it is extremely unlikely that a good Approved Driving Instructor will offer pupils cheap driving tuition.
