Smithfield Hotel

At the Smithfield hotel we provide comfortable accommodation for visitors to Orkney whether its business of pleasure. The hotel has 6 bedrooms; 5 ensuite and 1 with private shower room. The rooms have been recently refurbished to an excellent 3 star standard and all the rooms are non smoking, have colour TV with Freeview, tea/coffee making facilities, hair dryer and WIFI throughout.

Orkney is well known for its quality whiskeys and beers and we stock a fine collection of Highland Park & Scapa whiskeys and Orkney Brewery & Swanney Beers. Throughout the year we have music by local artists and the busiest day of the year is in August with the West Mainland Agricultural Show otherwise known as the Dounby Show.

Loch boat hire can be arranged. There are many coastline walks from Yesnaby where the rare Primula Scotica and rock formations can be found. Seabirds at Marwick Head and the Brough of Birsay is particularly good for Puffin spotting. Between the Palace Village and the Brough of Birsay seals are common, the sandy beaches and sea stacks are equally worth a look too.
