We are here for you, 24 hours a day, to represent your interests when you are being investigated or prosecuted for criminal offences. We understand that being investigated or prosecuted can be worrying, complicated and confusing. You will find us to be approachable, friendly, and knowledgeable. It is our job to ensure that your position is protected and advanced at each stage in the process of the proceedings.

Our firm has a contract with the Legal Aid Agency to conduct publicly-funded defence representation. To be clear; everyone interviewed as a suspect by the police is entitled to free advice and assistance, regardless of their means. Legal aid may be available, subject to qualifying rules, if you face proceedings before the Courts.
Services
If you are arrested, because you have been accused of committing a crime, then you should ask for John Robinson & Co solicitors on arrival at the police station. The police will contact the Defence Solicitor Call Centre, who will then notify us of your detention. We will contact you as soon as we are able after receiving this notification.
Facing prosecution for a criminal offence is a worrying experience. As a defendant, you will usually have the opportunity to represent yourself should you wish to do so, but most people prefer to instruct a lawyer to take on this potentially difficult role. Everyone who is interviewed by the police under caution is entitled to free, independent advice.
Attendance and representation at a single hearing before the Hull or Beverley Magistrates' Court. The key stages of your matter are based on the presumption that you expect to enter a guilty plea to the charge (or charges) that you face and have a date fixed for your hearing. Explaining the court procedure to you so you know what to expect on the day of your hearing, and the sentencing options available to the Court.
Between us we have over 70 years' -worth of experience of conducting criminal litigation and advocacy. Having studied at Hull University, I qualified in London as a solicitor in 1997, where I worked for a high-street legal-aid practice conducting criminal defence, landlord & tenant, and personal injury work.
We are based at Kingston House, 23 Parliament Street, the centre of the traditional legal district of Hull. Our offices are spread over four floors. There are stairs up to the front door, and there is no lift inside the building. If you would have difficulty in accessing our office for any reason we can provide home visits if required.
