Walton Hall Golf Club is situated on the edge of Walton Gardens, the land originally acquired by the Greenall family in 1812 and then purchased by Warrington Borough Council in 1941, opening to the public in 1945.
The golf course did not appear until 1971, commencing with just nine holes but then extended and redesigned in 1977 by Dave Thomas and Peter Allis to provide the full 18 holes, meandering up the hillside to provide magnificent views across Warrington and the Cheshire countryside. This challenging course is open to the public but also offers membership to both ladies and men.

Services
Membership of Walton Hall Golf Club offers you the opportunity to play regular competition golf on a challenging course without the large initial outlay required at private golf clubs. With just a small annual membership fee and then a reduced green fee for the Sunday comps only when you want to. You get regular golf, in good company, an official CONGU handicap and you don't need a bank loan to join.
As a Ladies Section we have been established for almost 30 years and today we have 24 members with handicaps ranging from single figures to 36, with those ladies relatively new to golf working towards achieving their official handicaps. It is hoped new handicap initiative will encourage more ladies to join us at Walton Hall Golf Club (WHGC).
A major advantage of joining a club like WHGC is the opportunity to gain or maintain a handicap, and play competitive golf with the opportunity to win a host of prizes, at a cost-effective price compared with many private clubs. For the fees at private clubs to provide value for money it can mean having to play a minimum of two or three times a week throughout the whole year to warrant the expense.
Keeping abreast of what is happening in the 'Ladies' world of golf can be tough - the sporting world, tends to be geared towards men. Here, we shout back, keep you up-to-date with the latest news among the Ladies section of Walton Hall Golf Club and give tips and information on other golfing gossip relevant to women.
Whether a beginner or seasoned player, times can arise where there is uncertainty over a particular rule. However, it should be noted that rules can be amended from time to time and all players are advised to obtain an official copy of the Rules for themselves.
The easiest way to understand this is to think of the ball being hit (one stroke, eg, first shot if off the tee), the shot needs to be re-taken so the ball has to be returned to the former position (one stroke, therefore second shot even though you don't actually hit the ball), then ball is actually hit (third shot). If you think this has happened you must play another ball from the original place before it went out of bounds.

Booked midweek for a round on Sunday morning. To get there and find out that there was a competition on so had to start on hole 8. After slow play on the course due to over Booking did not get to play the full 18 holes. The part of the course we did get to play was in good condition. The booking system is managed poorly and over Booked. When we did get to hole one there was 10 people on the tee so we called it a day. We didn't have to pay for the round but Overall turned out to be a waste of time

Truly blown away by this course. Given it's a pay and play course I'm really impressed by the quality of the design, the layout and the length of this course. There are lots of demanding holes for even the most experienced players. Long and open holes makes this enjoyable for big hitters, but theres plenty of obstacles, trees, water hazards and dog legs that will test you. The standard of the green keeping is excellent and what you'd expect from a full membership course. Very picturesque scenery, but very hilly course. Be careful if you plan on carrying a full set of clubs as its tiring to walk
