Whitley Hall is an ivy-clad 16th century mansion located amongst 20 acres of stunning gardens and woodland. Whitley Hall was the successor to an earlier house located on or near the same site and was formerly known as Launder House. The first known recording of the existence of this earlier house was in 1406 when John Cartwright surrendered his right to the property to William Robinson and his heirs.
We understand that from booking your wedding to the day itself can be a very long time and you probably have lots of questions about how we run things. Our fantastic new monthly wedding opening evenings allow our lovely brides and grooms to come down and meet the team to discuss anything from service, timings, venue styling, room set ups and any other questions you may have.
The Whitley Hall staff team refer to themselves as 'The Whitley Family' because of how inclusive and enjoyable it is to work here. Staff retention in the hospitality industry is famously quite low however at Whitley Hall we has staff that have worked here for as long as 30+ years and most full time staff member have been in the family for longer than 10 years!
As Sheffield premier wedding venue, we know some of you have been looking forward to come down and start look round the hall in the hopes of starting to plan your big day. We are extremely happy that after careful planning, staff training and the implementing of new procedures we are now in a position to offer this to our excited future couple.
Tudor architecture marries perfectly with contemporary design giving you the opportunity to revel in 16th century splendour and 21st century luxury. Tread in the footsteps of Mary Queen of Scots in the West Wing or simply admire the view of the lake from your Juliet balcony in the recently opened Parker Wing.

My sister's wedding and have to say that the place is amazing. Staff were lovely and the food was stunning. The rooms are really comfortable, though if you want a coffee you'll need to look in the wardrobe for the kettle et al. Briefly saw the wedding suite and Wow, that is something really special. A brilliant place, highly recommended.

Food is first class. Nothing too much trouble. Would like to return, my wife had trouble getting upstairs to use the ladies room, and coming down. Is there any possibility of building some kind of toilets downstairs for the handicap. Would love to have Christmas lunch again there next year and bring the family.

Incredibly helpful staff and lovely location. Outside area well heated even in October. Only thing to watch out for is maybe set your radiator down a little bit when first getting in the room as mine was way too warm later in the night. It's possibly personal preference though, as I like to go in to a cold room to sleep in, so I can't knock them for it (and some may consider this a plus!)

This was a fantastic wedding venue. Great ambience and aesthetics on a clear and visual day. The staff are professional and very helpful, and they provided two bars to keep lines short. From what I understand, the bride had a bit of difficulty with them taking food away in the evening, but this was sorted very quickly. All around, a good place to have a wedding!
