Is pain affecting your life? All people at some stage experience pain and this results in us modifying activities, but most problems resolve within a short period of time. What do you do when pain and loss of function continues? This is where a visit to the Hallamshire Physiotherapy clinic is necessary.
At an initial session the physiotherapist will complete a thorough assessment to identify your main problems. Following this an individualised treatment programme will be devised. Pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) is an evidence based programme of physical activity and education for people living with chronic lung disease.
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (CFS/ME) is a relatively common illness. The physical symptoms can be as disabling as multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis and other chronic conditions. CFS/ME involves a complex range of symptoms that includes fatigue, malaise, headaches, sleep disturbance, difficulties with concentration and muscle pain.
Pain is defined as: "An unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage, or described in terms of such damage" (International Association of the Study of Pain, 2011). Generally pain gets a bad press, but we need pain to indicate that our tissues are being stressed and we need to change behaviour.
