Hackworthy's is a family-owned business, established in 1972. Now run by second and third generation family members, we've grown to be one of the largest independent removal companies in the South West. Founded by Ron Hackworthy, the company was originally set up as a parcel carrier firm but soon diversified into moving new furniture and from there to carrying out removals.
The business quickly took off and in 1976 we took over the lease of a warehouse in Prince Rock, Plymouth, which we eventually purchased. Ron's son Reg and his wife Ruth took over in 1991. They developed the business, winning national and local contracts for removals and distribution, and by 1998 we decided to expand into the self-storage market.

We are a family run, locally based company and one of the South Wests leading independent removal companies. If you're planning on doing your own packing, we advise you start two weeks before your move. Use this opportunity to de-clutter and get rid of items you don't need or use anymore. Label your cardboard boxes as you pack them, including the location or room where they need to go.

Merely adequate.
The men sent to remove our things from our old home and then into storage were friendly - hence the 2 stars.
The office staff were the total opposite and dismissive.
They were also very expensive.
We were told we'd have to wait over 3 weeks to have them deliver our belongings to our new address - at our expense as our things were in their storage - hence I found another removal company who did it the same week, with excellent service and a third of the price.
I would not recommend them or use them again - sorry removal boys - not your fault!

Great service, the three guys Aaron,Corey and Paul were a credit to the company they work for. They were excellent in moving us to day, turned up on time and loaded the van with nothing to much for them. Unloaded the other end again with pure professionalism again nothing to much trouble and once unloaded again asked if we wanted anything repositioning Would definitely use Hackworthy again and again, A1 service

How would you feel if a removal company arrived in your road (a single track) and started packing the homeowner's belongings into boxes whilst they continued to block your road for the four days it took. Rejecting suggestions that they could pack and store the boxes and bring the lorry to the address at the end of each day. Would that be an ok scenario? I don't think so. The Manager was not at all interested in any objections and for that I rate him less than 1 star. Not to mention the rudeness of the staff!

They ripped me off by £800 they asked me to give my credit card details. I said there is no point I do not have my moving date from my solicitor yet. They replied we won't use it it is only on standby incas you want to use us. It's a credit card we can't take your money if we did you would get it back. I was foolish to believe them I did give them my number but said I wasn't that happy to go with them as they never even came to my home. They just asked what have other companies said you need? Right after I felt it was wrong. I called the bank they said they had taken over £1000 from my credit

I advise potential customers to steer well clear of this company. I bought a sofa from Dingles,Plymouth and Dingles use this company as a delivery agent. In brief the company promised phone calls that weren't returned , promised on or before delivery times were not met without explanation or update and when querying this with the company I was told on different occasions that not one of their staff would have either promised a return call or an on or before delivery time ( implying that I was lying). Shocking customer service and would have rated a zero if I had the opportunity.
