The Real Green Gardener was awarded the Silver-Gilt medal by The Royal Horticultural Society for The Kingston Maurward Garden project in Dorset. This project combined contemporary and traditional approaches to create a garden that perfectly embodies the philosophy of the college in its education of future professionals.
The planting creates a calming, romantic space inspired by the rich history of plant collections at KMC. Steve and his team have just finished transforming a part of our garden which was not being used to its full extent. At the planning stage, Steve listened to what the area was to be intended for and offered suggestions and ideas according to this.

Fantastic Contemporary garden”
Working with Steve and his team they created a contemporary garden that we had no idea could be achieved. Steve managed to help us imagine what could be done when we stood and looked out at our garden with its bare, muddy landscape, with a slop that could not be used in anyway.
The team helped us understand the type of planting needed based on our garden environment and provided design ideas during the planning phase to help with the overall look.
