Summit Engineering Bham
In the oil and gas market sector where short lead-times and quality machined products are essential. We recognise the management challenge in the complex civil and defence aerospace supply chain. We have the necessary equipment to handle large diameter, long length products for the Oil & Gas industry. We manage supply chains on low to medium volume, small to medium sized, highly technical components. We develop processes to support either complete or part processed component/assembly conditions.
Services
The business was originally formed by Donald Dowler father of the current managing director in 1965 and once known as D.a. Dowler Engineering Limited. Established to meet the aerospace subcontract machined component requirements of Lucas factories based in Birmingham our reputation as a good quality supplier grew rapidly.
To be the SME (Small, Medium Enterprise) supplier/partner of choice for, subcontract Machining (milling, turning, grinding and drilling), Assembly and Remanufacture in the Aerospace, Defence, Oil & Gas and General Engineering market sectors. Promote opportunities based on our vision to improve cost effectiveness and business performance.
As part of the complex civil and defence aerospace supply chain, Summit Engineering recognise the management challenge faced by our customers. Our commitment to this sector is backed by our AS9100 approval and a continual drive to ensure on time delivery. From our modern facility in Solihull, we develop manufacturing processes that enable us to produce a wide range of components to our customer's drawings.
As part of our market diversification back in 2005 Summit Engineering began to investment in equipment necessary to handle large diameter, long length products for the Oil & Gas industry.

The requirement to produce mandrels for 'Packers' has been achieved by the installation of a number of long bed CNC lathes, these lathes are capable of machining between centres up to 34ft (10.5 metres) in length and in excess of 39ft (12 metres) and 10' 1/4 (260mm) diameter through the spindle.Pipes can be coated in rubber compounds such as Nitrile, HNBR and EPDM with hardness values of 70 or 90 IRHD (International Rubber Hardness Degree).
In the defence sector, supply chains can be very complex. Summit Engineering (Birmingham) Limited takes ownership and manages its supply chain on a variety of low to medium volume, small to medium sized, highly technical components. Relying on support for AOG (Aircraft on the Ground) or for through-life platform support with capacity and installed capability helps mitigate operational or programme risks.

Would of said it was okay but employed me on minimum wage and I was doing more manual handling than anyone their and they was getting paid more for doing less work like pressing a button at a machine every 20 minutes reading the news paper, whilst I was picking up to at least 60-120 heavy cylinders multiple times a day and shot blasting them quality checks lubing in sides of the cylinders and storing them in crates
