The company was founded by Alan Barguss who, after attending St Paul's School and University College London, came to the Cotswolds in 1971 to take a summer job working with old buildings. He fell in love with the area and stayed, almost immediately going into partnership with an existing building contractor.
In 2002, Alan left this partnership to set up Barguss Construction and he was soon joined by his two sons, Anthony and Simon. Alan now has over 45 years' experience in this industry and he continues to act as a consultant to the business, while the day-to-day administration and project management has been passed onto the next generation.

Barguss Construction is a well-established, family-run firm of building contractors based in Burford, Oxfordshire. We specialise in the restoration, extension, conversion and maintenance of historic and listed buildings, from the smallest of cottages to substantial farmhouses, manor houses, country estates and churches.
We are keen to hear from experienced tradespeople, labourers and apprenticeship candidates who may be interested in a career with Barguss Construction.
