Andy Farrell is an independent time served luthier specialising in guitar repair and maintenance, having worked alongside hobbyist and professional guitarists for over 43 years. Catering for guitarists needs from a players perspective, offering an attractive trade level pricing policy direct to the public, WHY PAY MORE!

Not to be confused with often expensive high street services carried out by in house amateurs claiming to be trained luthiers. I do not stock or retail musical equipment therefore I am not a shop, all work is carried out exclusively by myself, I do not employ outworkers or third parties of any kind, nor do I post spoof reviews of my work in order to boost internet ratings, I have no affiliations with retailers, private individuals only.
Services
Students of the guitar and accomplished players alike generally agree a Pro Set-Up compliments the learning process, whilst improving the overall feel and playability of your instrument.

Hardwood fretboards are treated with my own formula polish to help feed and protect the wood from grime and moisture achieving a dry fast tack free odourless finish avoiding the use of sticky slow to absorb oils which can over time build up to a nasty difficult to remove mess if over applied.
You may or may not know the feeling! Opening up your guitar case after a "Jam it in the van job", trip over a lead, or just wishing you had bought that guitar stand. Please note: I no longer get involved with failed D.I.Y. attempts to repair guitar head-stocks. FRESH BREAKS ONLY. I do not guarantee any headstock repair however, given the time and care I devote to the process my success rate is very high.
Based on three decades of guitar neck construction experience I am pleased to offer a custom build service for quality replacement bolt-on necks both right and left handed. Design your own headstock profile, over shot 2 octave fretboards, vintage style slab board or one piece construction. Only the best seasoned timbers used, choose from Tiger, Quilt, Birdseye Maple, Black Walnut, Rosewoods, Mahogany etc.
Please note that due to demands on my time in the set-up, service, repair and restoration side of the service I provide I am no longer taking orders for hand made guitars until further notice. In response to the rising popularity of quality 'self assembly' parts and kits by Warmoth/W.D. etc I now offer a guitar assembly service to include a full PRO SET UP for those guitarists who prefer not to tackle this sometimes quite involved process.
In response to demand, I am pleased to offer to custom order hand made solid electric mandolins utilising top quality renewable resourced seasoned hardwoods. Finishes include nitro cellulose oils or wax. Robust traditional style "tear drop" through-neck construction featuring low playing actions, slightly wider nut and fret board with an adjustable truss rod for greater playing comfort.

Brilliant service, a true professional. Barry sorted out my new LP a few years ago and this is a very late review. Transformed the guitar and made it so much more playable and the results have lasted. Highly recommend!

I've taken my Fender Telecaster for the pro full set up.
A week later was ready but when I probe it at home the bridge pickup had a bad sound. The height of the pickup was too high. I had to solve the problem myself because Andy doesn't take my calls.
This guy is no professional and well educated with the customer.

Took my Acoustic guitar to Andy for a setup. I'm far from an expert as only been playing for 3 years but I can honestly say the guitar plays well and sounds a lot better now. I'm very happy with the service.
