At Thomas Consulting we recognise that our business is only as good as the people we employ, and relys on continual development to meet the demands and changes our client's projects require. I manage our Chorley Office. I am a structural engineer with over 30 years experience within the construction industry, with widespread experience in all types of structures.
We have compiled some frequently asked questions, we hope that you find them useful but don't hesitate to contact us if there is something you wish to discuss. You want to widen an opening such as a door or window in a wall (particularly if it is load bearing). Defects, particularly in older properties, may be failing - such as lintels over windows or corroding beams supporting wall and floors above.
We are particularly interested in applications from Technicians and Engineers with good structural and civil engineering backgrounds and from experienced contaminated land engineers and scientists. If you are considering a career move, please send your CV in the first instance stating your preferred employment location.

AVOID. See email below
In our initial conversation I made it clear that I wanted the services of a structural engineer to check the recent work that had been undertaken to repair some subsidence before I bought the property. We discussed that while the outside work was obvious to see, internally some cracks were on show when I first viewed the property. Since then some decorating had been done and my concern was that they had literally 'papered over the cracks'. I also emailed over several documents from the sellers insurance and building contractor, one of which states clearly internal cracking
