Auchtergaven is a small, friendly rural school situated north of Perth in the village of Bankfoot. We have six primary classes and 22 full-time places in our nursery. We aim to provide a happy and safe place where we all learn to be our very best. We place emphasis on the fostering of worthwhile attitudes and values as well as the acquisition of knowledge and skills.
Services
Set in the beautiful Perthshire countryside Auchtergaven Primary School is approximately 8 miles north of Perth, just off the A9. We are a happy, busy school where the children learn in a supportive, caring environment. We operate two sittings for lunch. 12:15-12:35pm generally for younger pupils and 12:35-1pm for older pupils.
This means: We communicate effectively; we listen respectfully to one another's points of view and try to understand. We trust one another; we believe that everyone is making decisions based on what is best for individual pupils and their classes.
We advocate a system of positive behaviour and use Bounce Back, a resiliency programme which helps children to cope with the complexity of their everyday lives and learn to 'bounce back' when they experience sadness, difficulties, frustrations and hard times. In our school children work together on their school and class rules.

We operate a self-choice system where children choose their main course in the morning which is then ordered, with children receiving the appropriate ticket at lunch time. Please try to discuss menu options with your child to ensure they know what they are ordering. Space is available in the school hall for children who prefer to bring a packed lunch.
At Auchtergaven Nursery our staff work in partnership with parents and the school to create a warm, positive learning environment. Learning in nursery is developed through active learning experiences, planned by staff to give your child opportunities to explore experiment, play, create, imagine, reflect and develop.
We encourage all children to make healthy choices. Water is available at all times for children to drink and daily snacks and milk are provided by Tayside contracts free of charge. If your child is staying with us for lunch, they can either have a school lunch or bring a packed lunch with them. If the latter, please remember that we promote healthy eating and that staff are not able to heat foodstuffs for children.
